M.e.a.t. new york event - what really happens?

Hey guys,

Just came across this event happening at the end of the week. Was wondering if anyone has been to something like this and could share what it's all about. Any thoughts/comments are welcomed.

Is there full-on sex by the performers?
Would I be out of place if I go by myself?
What should I wear (if I'm not into the leather/harness look)?
Does stuff get raunchier as the night goes on?
Any safety issues and/or issues with the police?

Judging by the web page and video, along with the Instagram link if you are not wearing leather, jeans and a wife beater would be the attire for the event. Don't wear Dockers or Members Only jackets. Beyond that I would not expect full on sex on stage - this is a city that has reduced the skin shops considerably, but certainly the idea for some Tom of Finland style sex is clear.

Since this is their second annual event, I doubt they have had problems with the police. I'm sure they have their own security. I would give it a shot - the possibilities are great.

For an added charge you get access to the “dark room”. Not sure if it’s legal in NY, but at most clubs a dark room is a place where you can hook up anonymously. Make sure your wallet is well-protected. No one will force you to have sex, but practice saying “no” before you go, unless you’re cool with aggressive men. It can get very grabby.

This harkens back to the days of The Saint (at Large) parties. There was sex and drugs as there usually is at many of these events, so if that's NOT your thing best to stay away. This is also as keenobserver noted for the leather crowd. Again, if that's not your thing you might want to pass.
