LoL not at all! I just read a lot of more American news because they’re my morning dose of drama. Nothing ever happens here, and so I fill my time with this latest season of America the TV show :joy:

Glad we can give our Kiwi friends the entertainment they need :joy:

Well, tonight is the big night! We'll find out within hours if Madison will last another two years at least serving the great people of NC-11, or if he'll be forced to retire early to a quiet life under Stephen's tender care.

(This is not a political post.)

He can always go back to trying to punch out unarmed trees.

I foresee his future including a stint on Fox, but not lasting long. I hope he is able to take time and heal himself without the spotlight, being elected was not good for him.

PredictIt giving MC 66/33 odds to win, which I think is about right at this point, based on what we know.

PredictIt

(Honestly, this is not a political post. Just sharing betting odds.)
He needs to win enough to avoid a runn-off, otherwise all his opponents' supporters will coalesce around one person and that won't be good for him.

Absolutely. The threshold is low in this case to avoid a runoff: 30%. The main question is if he can get there. No one thinks he can actually get a majority, but getting to 30% and beating Edwards seems... about 67% doable.

god of what? sexual harassment? inciting violence? stupidity? dishonesty? homophobia? transphobia? idiocy? or all of the above?
He’s clearly a bit of an idiot – but where’s the evidence of actual homophobia that people keep mentioning? Unlike a lot in his party, he’s always openly supported gay marriage – and I haven’t really seen anything he’s said which would particularly count as especially homophobic at all tbh.

Genuinely happy to be enlightened if there is something, I just haven’t seen it.

(And politics aside, openly living with, employing, being cared for and travelling the world with your twinky queeny-voiced eternally girlfriend-free cheerleader cousin doesn’t exactly shout of someone who is massively homophobic, or bothered by people being gay, regardless of whether he is a closet-case himself.)

On the vote, 30% seems a bar low enough even Madison can probably reach it – honestly I think they would both be much better off out of Congress, but I‘d be lying if I pretended there wasn’t part of me delighted by the inevitable MESS if he gets re-elected :joy:
