Australia -

As everybody knows the tectonic plates that quite literally float on the earths mantle have been swinging around and clashing with each other, causing earthquakes and volcanos since the beginning of this planet.

For the last couple of million plus years Australia has been seperated completely from the rest of world and has developed it's own, unique evolutionary system.

Whilst the rest of the world has evolved similar species (eg; hundreds of variations of horses, cats, antelope etc), Australia has evolved marsupials* and alsorts of unique creatues. THROUGH EVOLUTION!

(*Actually, scientists reckon marsupials orginated from North America, migrated to Oz when the plates were closer and then evolved - http://www.australianwildlife.com.au/features/marsupials.htm )

Vision of creationists as little children running around with fingers stuck in their ears, eyes closed but their mouths open and babbling.

Yeah, it is. Diebold didn't run this poll.

Why bother arguing with these people when there are millions of scientists out there doing research based on the fact of evolution, research that ultimately will cross over into the realm of medicine and probably one day help them and their loved ones fight off diseases, aging, etc...? It's a joke. Should Pecker ever need surgery, the doctors digging around in his body will have been trained in the biological sciences that we owe to Darwin and his descendants (no pun intended).

Science designed the foreskin...nothing intellegent there!

Actually, the foreskin does a number of things. It protects the glans from UV rays, burs, friction, crushing (more a problem these days with drawers), heat, cold . . .

FWIW, there's no 'design' involved.

Wow it's strange to read that. How many Americans believe in god (or think god is important in them life ?)

I saw a poll telling only 10-15% of European people really believe in god and think "it" is important in them everyday life...
People telling that god have created human the way it is now are looking like crazy weird peoples

Americans who claim to believe in God are more likely to fear public disapproval in their political choices and usually worry more about appearances than substance. No , it is not a coincidence that 51% voted for Bush and also said they dont believe in the theory of evolution. It is, in fact, in line with red state philosophy.

As a teacher, it is my duty to teach students from scientific priniciple. I will not allow religious dogma to dilute the purpose of teaching: challenge students to think using scientific observation as their guide.

The tide will turn in the next few years as California leads the way in stem cell research. The state office of
said research opened yesterday in San Francisco. The truth shall set the religious fundamentalists, who can still think for themselves, free. This shall help turn the tide against radical fundamentalist religious ignorance.

Edit: Oh, and sorry for bumping up this archaic topic

No apology needed. Somehow I missed that particular masterpiece of Dr. Rock's, and my life would not have been quite complete without it.

Although I am (sadly) reminded one again that nomatter how hard the fine folks of lpsg try to convince each other that things are going to be okay somehow, the vast majority of our country are still stupid, inbred, willfully ignorant lemmings.

Ignorant people piss me off. Its time to move past "god", or at least time to make some major changes to the evil book that is the bible.

Madam_Z- The only way its ever going to be fine is if there's some massive revelation that the bible is just a book, and that's all.
