Honestly I couldn't tell you, I only wear make up if I wake up early enough to bother putting it on (which can be lots of fun, but I usually don't because it's time consuming as hell) but once it's on I don't reapply every other minute like some women do. It actually annoys the FUCK out of me too. If I do reapply it's only if I know I smudged it or if it's a quick touch up in the restroom by myself.

I will rarely reapply lipstick if I just put on makeup, but seriously if I'm in a hurry lipstick is easily applied in the car. I mean what's the problem?

I reapply lipstick repeatedly throughout the day and often first put it on in the car. Mine has a tendency to wear off. If I don't reapply it, my lips get really dry.

Have you ever tried Cover Girl Outlast or Loreal Infallible lip colors? They stay on all day with no touch up at all and wear comfortably too ;) They both come with gloss that's basically just really good moisturizer you can even use without using the color. I'd try those if you don't wanna have to reapply and still want lasting color that wears well without over drying. Either one removes easily with standard make--up remover

I think he just wants to know why some women reapply when they claimed to already be done getting ready for the day and aren't actually running late. I've seen women do it pretty often where I work, even if they have a fully done face of make-up they'll reapply for no reason and cake it on. It's as if they're trying to get peoples attention drawn to their face. The only time it bothers me to see a woman applying her make-up is if there's obviously no need for her to do so, if she's not running late, and if her make-up isn't smudged, and if there's access to a bathroom nearby, I see no reason for her to do so publicly.

And just me personally, if I'm running late I just skip make-up all together. Being on time is more important to me than wearing my lipstick. That's just me though, I know some people prefer to wear make-up everyday, which is fine

Ever get dressed, sort yourself out in the mirror, then re-adjust what you're wearing (i.e. a tie) once more in another mirror before going out the door? I think it is a bit like that.

Thanks! I tried one of them. It was a while back, and it was very dry. However, I just might give it another try.

It took me a lil practice before I managed to get it right, the trick is to just use a small amount of color and let it dry before applying the gloss, and go a lil easy on the gloss too. I've found they work better than any stick and actually do stay on all day. Also, sometimes if you get one that's been on the shelf awhile it can be less comfortable so look for the ones that have been recently stocked if you can
Just if you do decide to try it

Daylight shows things that artificial light doesn't. I always check my face in daylight to make sure I don't have weird spots that didn't get blended well enough or missed completely. Lipstick is a bitch... If you don't wear a really good one that lasts an obscene amount of time, it needs touching up... A lot

OK, funny counterpoint: leaving the house for the airport the other day and hubby glances in the mirror. His hair is perfect, but... "Oh shit, look at that." He whips out a comb and begins combing his beard. I just said "don't say another word about lipstick and we shall speak no more of this."

BTW, he mentioned lipstick just this morning so I'm posting this.

Very good point and one I had not thought of. *Now* I'm really encouraged. I wish drug stores still had testers so I could actually see how the colors look on me before trying. But, you've given me hope!

I wear all the make up, all the time; I won't leave home without it, usually. Illness has made my skin splotchy, and caused my eyebrows to mostly fall out. When I'm in a hurry. I may do concealer, foundation, brows, blush, and pressed powder. Then, if he is driving, I can do liner, mascara, lipstick, and lip gloss in the car. When I used to commute by train, I used to put it all on during my hour commute. I always wore lots of makeup. I didn't just start when my skin betrayed me. But I didn't used to have an unwillingness to go out without it before.

Because you put makeup on in the bathroom and it looks fine and then you get in the car where you have all kinds of natural light and you need to check again (like Snarky said) you have to make sure everything you have on your face is blended. Thats why in the summer I only wear mascara and some cherry chapstick. Much easier.

I saw a couple ladies posted that they do their make-up in indoor light then need to touch up in the sunlight, I actually didn't realize that could be the case because I do my make up in the window with the sunlight to begin with and never had that happen. Thanks for pointing it out :)

I gotta have something to do so I don't watch my husband's driving..... thus, lipstick in the car! LOL ;)

Seriously... I normally get dressed before I leave... if I am wearing make up (which is only for dressy occasions) it is already on before I leave. If I say I'm ready, I'm ready.

ooops... except for the bottle of water I usually always grab on the way out.
