Must have: Charcoal or chocolate eyeliner - I occasionally wear a dark blue or purple, but not often.

Never ever: blush and lipstick. With blush I just don't do it well so it looks bad. And I don't need it enough to bother practicing. With lipstick it's more that I have shapely, full, quite dark lips already - if I wear a dark or bright colour I feel it draws way to much focus to my mouth and, with a light skinned and round face I just look a little too porcelain doll. Not a look I like on me. I do have a very gentle ashes of roses lipstick and liner that I like and will wear when not wearing lipstick looks underdressed (i.e. with evening wear - not that that need arises too often at the moment).

for me a woman that uses too much make up is hiding something or is something wrong with her.

I'm sure that's extremely important to someone other than you. Or not. I'm sure my friends with naevus flammeus (aka 'port wine stain') and facial scars will immediately stop wearing foundation just to please you. Or not.

I love my slap. I use mineral foundation that I can build from sheer to full coverage (depending on the event & time of day); if I'm pushed for time I'll only add liquid liner and mascara, because I like the dramatic effect. My lips can carry themselves, or with a small slick of balm.

I don't use concealer (nothing to hide, so far), and blush is only for glam events. I rarely use lipstick (I forget to reapply), but will occasionally use a permanent lipstick for a full-scale grown-up event.

I know I'm a guy, but...

Chapstick, Camphor enriched. I have permanently chapped lips, and without it they just turn into giant strips of pork crackling. *blurge*

And Guy's Clear Mascara. Which is exactly what it sounds like. A clear mascara. I use it on my lashes and my eyebrows... and my chest hair. hehe... It holds them all in place and gives them a 'slight' shine.

Other than that, I'm lucky (and cursed) with built in Genetic make-up. I have slightly grey'd upper eyelids, and slightly blue skinned 'blusher' on my under eyelid and upper cheek. Damn Italian/Latin DNA... lol

Thank you Rouge..!

My sense of humour is pretty much just your average London humour. Come over sometime, and laugh yourself silly.

Interestingly, a couple of my friends have fallen in love with Southern US girls, and when they've come over here to London they have all said that they love the humour, but the few Northern US girls and guys who our lil group know just don't get it... lol

Oh, and I understand why you only asked the ladies. In the UK there is a surprisingly large usage of make-up by men, even amongst str8 guys, but its all very hush hush. Over here, thats what were really talking about when you think we're talking about football...:biggrin1:

I really am, too. I think I have a couple pics in my gallery that prove as much. I guess there's something wrong with me and I'm hiding things, too.

I actually look like Quasimodo... shhhhhh!

Bwahahaha!

I find that skillful application of make-up detracts nicely from the third eye in the middle of my forehead and as a bonus, effectively camouflages my intelligence...

Until I snag a man of course, at which point I don't bother with grooming. Or blow jobs. Obviously.

;p

lol as a non english speaker I think i can read better english than you, if you go to my post I wrote "too much make up" which mean womans that seems more a clown than anything else, I have seen teenagers with toooooo much foundation in their face it make them look so artificial.

try to respect my opinion and stop being too feminist.

Turning the makeup thread into a woman-bashing fest. Nice.
Where do we draw the line when a thread about your makeup preferences is an opportunity to tell women they are too sensitive and too feminist because your sharp-tongued, rude and not-appropriate-to-the-post opinion is taken as EXACTLY what it was and you call the women out as having the problem.
All the concealer in the world couldn't cover the ugliness in your personality.

By the way....

This (your original opinion):

It uses the words "too much" which is a relative opinion. To some, too much is light lipstick and powder. To others, looking like a drag queen is what makes them feel pretty is still not enough. Who cares? It was a question to the ladies and a few men who had answers to the questions.

Not opinions on how the ideal woman should look.

of course its an opinion, I have mine about the ideal woman.

and too much literally means more than normal, when soft make up are lot better. (another opinion of mine)
