I've just been watching a production taped last season of a new opera written for the French tenor Roberta Alegna, 'Marius et Fanny'.

He's a bit of a hunk PLUS having a great voice. Ok, he's not a trim hunk--he's an opera singer!--but still....nice bulge, nice butt, great voice.

Alagna is not hot up close, Hvrostovsky is an asshole, Nathan Gunn is no brain surgeon, and Hampson is married with kids. Since opera companies are usually run by old, lecherous queens, if you're hot or cute in the opera world, you go far very fast. The Met has a guy who hires the singers and spends all his time following the cute ones around and makes them have dinner with him.
