The funny thing is that his Madonna collab is probably the biggest flop of his career

He really should have collaborated with someone more relevant to get that Ricky Martin type Anglosphere crossover

Bad Bunny and even J Balvin are getting the attention he wishes for
The song may not have been a hit, but it still got him attention in the US, including their performance at the AMA's. Madonna may no longer burn up the singles charts (I can't think of any artists her age who do), but she's a legend and I assume the collab was more about the chance to work with her than anything.

I think the idea was to get attention (for both of them), but it didn't really work outside the older (and mostly white) gay audience who wouldn't be interested in his music in first place. Most of that demographic would never be willing to listen to male, "urban" and/or non-English music (and likewise, most younger millennials and Gen Z kids aren't interested in Madonna outside some of the more open-minded gays). His own solo songs got more attention in the US as evidenced by streams and sales. "Felices los 4" (which he performed at the VMAs and late night talk shows) easily outsold "Medellin" and has infinitely more streams.

Anyway, it came off as desperate for both of them. He even thought a Flo Rida collaboration would help him, but Flo Rida hasn't had a hit in years. :skull:

Bad Bunny really won.
