An Iraqi television journalist hurled two shoes at President Bush on Sunday during a joint news conference Bush was holding with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki to mark the signing of a U.S.-Iraq security agreement.
Bush had just finished his prepared remarks in which he said the security agreement was made possible by the U.S. surge of troops earlier this year, whhen the journalist, Muthathar al Zaidi pulled his shoes off and hurled them at the president. "This is a goodbye kiss, you dog," Zaidi shouted.
Bush dodged the shoes and was not struck. Bodyguards quickly wrestled Zaidi to the floor and hauled him, kicking and screaming, from the room. Two other Iraqi journalists were briefly detained after one of them called Zaidi's actions "courageous."

Ah, but he missed-TWICE!

Two things are learned here, George is quick at ducking (must come from hunting trip experiences with Cheney) and the shoes were loafers. How do I know they were loafers? They moved too slowly towards their intended target:biggrin1:.

Too bad he didn't have a rotten tomato, shoes don't have very good projectile characteristics. Would love to have seen pics of W. with that on his face:biggrin1:.

Well, there's a big chance that man may regret that decision if his government decides to put him away (which they probably won't on word from Bush who made a joke of it) or fine him immensely. Afterall, he did assault a guest in the company of the Iraqi government, who just happens to be a President.

To think he'll just walk away from this without a punishment is unbelieveable.

I was rather disappointed-the reporter obviously was unskilled at the art of shoe-tossing. When I throw a shoe, it always hits the intended target, Al-Zaidi is a disgrace to all Iraqis who have successfully mastered the art of throwing shoes.

The white house just released the new policy regarding any press conferences regarding the bush administration: Everyone must not posess anything that is removable or a possible projectile.

I cant stop laughing at this. I find it so amusing that the rest of the world has enough balls to voice their opinion on an administration that has destroyed so much.

I think I would have ripped off shoes of other reporters and kept tossing till somebody hit that som-bitch.

The good news is, after 8 years, he FINALLY found the Weapon of mass destruction. It was under his feet the whole time.

A head of government who is out of office in a few weeks should not waste resources by traveling to the other side of the planet. He should stay home and get the carpets shampooed.

Maybe if they tossed some spiked heels at him they could actually do some damage.

The funniest part was Fox's clip where they went out of their way to mention that in Iraqi culture throwing shoes is a sign of dislike. Uhh, REALLY? Cuz in most other cultures throwing shoes at someone is a sign of respect.

Faux News being their typical, divisive selves, they cream their pants at any opportunity to put a spotlight on brown people acting crazy. I bet they couldn't wait for that clip to arrive at the studio.
