I don't know about AndyA, but the Italian978 change was legal. Pecker changed his name for him, the same way that they changed my name from HM to NP.

I don't really know WHY he changed his Italian name (and I think it was publicly announced although I can't swear to it), but I suspect that it was because Italian978 was hard to remember.
