Bisexuality from the 30s-50s was pretty common among the classic stars. Not like it is now. Back then, the bigger the star, the higher the reputation they had. Now, it is considered taboo to say you prefer both sexes. I am sure back then it wasn't a piece of cake to begin with. I am not a genius with this, but I believe that stars had a higher hand in their say back then.

Well, in reality to be frank, he was a homosexual, but he did have a relationship with the openly bisexual and wealthy Libby Holman, who was 16 years older than him. That was another woman that enjoyed the company of women and loved sexually conflicted men as well. A very complex lady in her lifetime, too. She committed suicide in 1971 by carbon monoxide poisoning.

My impression is that, like most homosexuals, he messed around with a few women in his early days. Unfortunately, I think he lived his life tormented by his sexuality.

Brando was quite the opposite. He didn't care what anyone thought and simply followed his instinct. Nevertheless, my guess that he was primarily heterosexual.

Well, Brando was Brando. He was the original playboy of his times. Fucked married women. Fathered numerous children from previous relationships. The list goes on and on. Enjoyed the hell out of it. He built that reputation since the beginning. I mean, forget George Clooney, Scott Baio(sorry), or any of those today male players that dated women back in the days. Those men would never ever come close to what Brando did or even dream of doing what he did. In Brando's case, once he saw something to screw around with, he did the deed and the job was done. And no one ever came close to his reputation at all in the 50s by far.

Sure, Brando had many faults and a very stormy relationship with his own children. But we can't deny his legendary status. Nobody ever came close to what he did. But I am rambling, so I'll stop.

I was curious so I checked out Wikipedia. Here ya go.

[edit] Sexuality

In Gary Carey's 1976 biography The Only Contender, Brando is quoted as saying, "Homosexuality is so much in fashion it no longer makes news. Like a large number of men, I, too, have had homosexual experiences and I am not ashamed. I have never paid much attention to what people think about me. But if there is someone who is convinced that Jack Nicholson and I are lovers, may they continue to do so. I find it amusing."
British newspaper The Daily Mail reported that during the filming of A Streetcar Named Desire (1951), in the garden of Vivien Leigh's mansion, David Niven discovered Brando and Laurence Olivier swimming in the pool. Olivier was kissing Brando. Niven was quoted as saying, "I turned my back to them and went back inside to join Vivien. I'm sure she knew what was going on, but she made no mention of it. Nor did I. One must be sophisticated about such matters in life."[14]

Oddly enough, Lindsay Lohan is really the only current "mainstream" celebrity that I can think of that seems to genuinely resemble Brando in terms of publicly disregarding the public's sexual boundaries.

(And, no, I do NOT believe her talent's anywhere near that of Brando!)

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Yeah, that's another one: Laurence Olivier. Seriously, it's looking like they were all bisexual.

I remember Howard Stern and Robin Quivers talking on the radio one day. Robin said to Howard, "I have a friend in Hollywood who said to me, 'They're ALL gay!'"

Maybe this is why Tom Cruise was so quick to sue.
