And well you should be, joe. The welfare of the country depends on him and his friends. A sad commentary!

I'm recalling the ABC News "20/20" interview with Barbara Walters and Martha....

Martha said she believed in the judicial process.....
"justice will prevail" I think she said.

'Sure looks like it did, too.

While I won't actually reveal "my take" on all this, I will acknowledge wondering about Martha and those already cited seven years as a stock broker. She would have HAD to know A LOT about the stock market. Love her or hate her---Martha IS a brilliant woman. We needn't dwell on "how" she got to her success. That could be yet another story, who knows? (I saw the TV movie and will just withhold judgment)

Tender noted she felt Martha was "picked on" (by virtue of just being a woman.) Could be. And, she probably was to some extent. I have to agree to that. But, the opportunity to convey a strong message (by the government) to the overall general public was just too great this particular time around. This "white collar crime" REALLY hit close to home. Afterall, everyone knew Martha!

What we kept on hearing about from the New York City courtroom was riveting stuff. Apparently, a great illegal wrong had been done....BIG time, too! And "our beloved Martha" was involved in it.
--Oh Martha! How could you?

Woman or not...if Martha did do wrong, then there had to be punishment. Taking any other direction (or stance) on this would only add another dastardly "wrong" to the equation. So, there you go. --Take it or leave it. Weighing everything revealed....the verdict made perfect sense. It was the one convicted that was so disconcerting for so many. --An icon had fallen.

Yep. Martha's learned her lesson, here, I think.

And so has ALL of America.

We won't be forgetting "Martha's Mess" anytime soon.

ruscular: someone said they are more concern about gw bushesss business with Enron? Bush seem to have the same red flag of inside trading 5 times, and each cases he promoted his friend to position so he could continue to do business his way. Most gov't jobs are contracted to the lowest bidder, but since bush been in office, he gives the business to his frined at premium cost.

I think Martha Stewart is guilty, but I do feel that she got pick on for political reason. She is the biggest contributor for the democratic party. So is Rosie O'Donnel is she getting a lot of pick on from Bush's regime. So for the moment it seem that who holds the power have protection from the law to do inside trading. The stock trading laws is in need of reformation. But as you know the information business is the most toughest business to crack down.

Ya know, its funny that you bring this up. These practices of nepotism and making life difficult for your political oponents in these un-democratic and rather corrupt ways, is actually something Im seeing here in Peru daily. A huge Mexican owned copperfactory is buying off people, intimidating institutions, threatening to stop proyects if they do not go their way, etc.

So politically speaking the US is just as bad as some developing countries. I knew it... ;)
