The Republicans have to field someone who isn't entirely batshit crazy first.
But you can't win the Repubican 'base' unless you are batshit crazy. Have you seen the loons lining up in Iowa?

Will you share some of what you are smoking?
Just because Fox tells you something doesn't make it true. I know you live in a bubble, but sane people (non Teabaggers) do not.
What in fuck are you talking about. I'm a socialist, and I still think you were high or having a fit of stupid when you typed that.
Rick Perry is convinced that America wants another halfwit Texan for President. As for Ron Paul reminds me of Ralph Nader everytime you look up he is running for President.
I'd like to see Ron Paul and someone like Dennis Kucinich or Bernie Sanders debate each other. Say what you want about any of those people, they're fairly honest sounding people.
What Ron is saying is "Do we need the government to tell us NOT to be racist?"
Really, racist? I have never heard anything out of his mouth even a little racist and since everyone is trying to discredit him and they have not even brought this up, I do not see where that statement comes from.
And just because it seems racist in your little PC world does not make it so...
WASHINGTON - Dr. Ron Paul, a Republican congressional candidate from
Texas, wrote in his political newsletter in 1992 that 95 percent of the black men in Washington, D.C., are "semi-criminal or entirely criminal."
He also wrote that black teenagers can be "unbelievably fleet of foot."
....
In the interview, he did not deny he made the statement about the swiftness of black men.
"If you try to catch someone that has stolen a purse from you, there is no chance to catch them," Dr. Paul said.
"Given the inefficiencies of what DC laughingly calls the criminal justice system, I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal"
The 95 percent came from a criminal justice think tank report. Do you know that its true or not before you commented? Also, its sounds more like a jab at the criminal justice system...like he's saying its unfair maybe? They arrest to many black males maybe?
Reminds me of the time I got called a racists for quoting a cnn article, something like "Fully 96 percent of black voters supported Obama". and asked the question if they voted based on color or political views?
There's a difference when quoting a "think tank" which obviously combines and distorts data to convey a propagandized thought, and researchable statistics from the US Treasury. Unless you think every single person, thing and organization under the government is out to get you and never tells the public a single truth, and there's nothing anyone can say or do around here to fix that kind of phobia. Besides, to cut through that distortion from a "criminal justice think tank" requires a real, honest look into other problems in our country surrounding our prison system and how generations of people tend to react when born and raised in a perpetual cycle of poverty and that would be severely off topic.
That's because much of the opposition thinks that without the black vote Obama wouldn't have won in 2008 and that's clearly not the case.
When you look at the full exit polls and break down the numbers to show just how many people that 95% truly stands for, we discover that it roughly represents 9.6 Million people out of 125+ Million people who voted. Also, considering that Obama won over the majority of every minority group by at least a 30 point margin (Black, Latino, Asian, Other) to try and target one group in particular and hold them accountable for the election of a president is nothing more than racially charged disingenuousness. Besides, it's not as if McCain ran away with the white vote anyhow with only 55% of it. It's clear that some people (including the 43% of white people who voted for Obama in 2008) may have been swayed partially to vote for Obama due to his skin color for obvious historical reasons (first black president, hello! :biggrin. However, to assume that this could be the primary reason for most people is also disingenuous since there was a time that Jesse Jackson tried to run in a presidential primary in 1984 and he lost miserably. Also, Herman Cain is running this year under the Republican ticket and I'm sure he won't get far as well.
Of course, this is just a theory being generated using researchable historical references and readily available exit data. If someone still wants to staunchly believe that the only reason Obama made it to the White House was because of black people voting for him then there's really nothing anyone can say or do in order to change that. However, it is a shame that after three years some people are still trying to propose pseudo-moralistic, yet socially divisive excuses as to how the president won the election. Obama won and McCain lost. He won the popular and electoral college vote so it is decisive and without any real controversy. We should be past this by now, especially since the next election is right around the corner. But again, whatever...![]()
What a deal we all got more debt and your 401k is losing it's value. Gosh I am so happy.
