Masturbation and erectile dysfunction

Cthulhu: Hello to all.

I am 22 years old and sex for me is happening roughly two times the week (my girlfriend is living 15 miles away), usually Wednesday and Saturday. The last three months, I have noticed a fact that I consider somehow disturbing. When I masturbate once a day (NOT on a sex day, of cource), whenever I am to have sex, 50-60% of the time I cannot maintain an erection. The only surefire way to get a good, lasting hard-on is not to masturbate at all the days in-between two sex-days.

Personaly, I don't consider this normal. I am young, healthy (as far as I know) and I am not on medication of any kind. One or two orgasms per day should be absolutely normal for me and cause me no problem at all.

What puzzles me even more is that eight months to a year ago I didn't have any such problems. I could masturbate daily, sometimes two times a day and be ready to go whenever pussy was available. The only thing that has changed on my body the last three months is that I went on a diet (not a magazine diet, I am going to a dietician) and have lost a couple of pounds. But how on earth could this be bad for the little cthulhu between my legs?

Any suggestions? Should I go seek professional help (for goodness sake, I am 22 years old, not 62!)? Or take any supplements (vitamins, aminos etc)?

(excuce my poor english, it isn't my native tongue)

You are already seeing a professional. Tell your dietician about your problem.

As Dr. Rock suggests, you may simply need a change in diet plan.

Masturbation cannot cause erectile dysfunction. If anything it keeps everything in working order. The problem is elsewhere, maybe in your diet or something psychological or emotional. Ask a doctor (cock doc if you will hehe).

Hey man, I have erection problems and I'm only 18. Why? I'm still trying to find an answer. Lets see here, I'm healthy, active, young, no diabetes, heart conditions, spinal injuries, or anything like that. I don't have a hormonal imbalance or testosterone deficiencies. I guess it can happen like that.

Cthulhu:

Sounds to me like you've got low testosterone. This is happening more and more among younger men. If I can find the article that I've read 100 times (but dammit, cannot find it now) I will add it to this thread. The article explains what I am about to say very well. The thing of it is, more and more young people have been raised around plastic and plastic actually disturbs testosterone production. My doctor told me he is seeing more and more young men with your very same symptoms and when tested, the results show dangerously low testosterone levels.

I myself had one bout of ED last fall and that scared the shit out of me. I've never had ED before and I don't ever want it again. When it happened to me I immediately contacted my doctor and had every test (blood work) done you can imagine. I've always had a complete physical done every January of every year since I was 20 years old so, I had that data from my January blood work to refer to and compare. When my blood work came back showing my Total Testosterone Level was down in the 100s after having been in the 1300s the previous January, all the alarms, bells & whistles went off alerting me to the fact that something was seriously wrong with me. My doctor started me on testosterone replacment treatment along with Cialis-20 every other day and, an extremely large amount of supplements -- now I feel like I'm 16 years old and fucking better than ever.

A young man of your age SHOULD be started on HCG (human Choriogonadotropin) treatment which will, if possible, wake up and regenerate the testosterone production in your testicles. This is the best way to go and its not expensive. If your doctor starts talking about putting you on Androgel or Testim, ask them about HCG treatments -- its the better choice.

The other folks who have posted about your dietary changes are also correct. You could be experiencing a temporary loss of testosterone production since you've recently changed your eating habits and are losing weight.

Regardless, please go see a doctor and have your testosterone levels checked. There is an excellent chart you can study at: http://www.natural-hrt.com/andropause04.html -- scroll down the page until you come to Sex Hormone Levels in Men BY AGE. You will see there are Measurements in European Units as well as ng/dl measurements (which is what we go by here in America).

I wish you the best. Please report back what you find out from your doctor.

Best Regards,
Sharps-Rifle

Masturbation doesn't cause erectile dysfunction. Do you smoke? Drink? Are you on any psychiatric medications? Do you do any illicit drugs? What about your diet? Or maybe you just have something wrong in your head.

No smoke, no alcohol, no medication, no drugs and my diet is fairly balanced.

There is probably something wrong with my head - although I have no freaking idea when, how and why it went wrong.

Last night, after abstaining from sexual activity for 4 days, I had the exact same problem - so I can rule out for sure masturbation as a cause of any problem (exept going blind and growing hair on my palms). After I slept (with the g/f), on 7:30 in the morning I was good to go - And boy, I went! Then, slept again, 11:30 woke up with a boner - but, after I wore a condom, it droped like a japanese kamikaze. However, a great blowjob later, I was again hard and good to go - and so I did.

I am going to experiment for another couple of times with the g/f (it might just be a weird phase) and also consult my dietitian. If everything else fails, cock docktor and blood test, here I come. I just hope I don't have to consult a psychologist (or psychiartrist), they are really fucking expensive!

(when we say cock doctor, we mean Urologist, isn't it? I have never seen a doctor's office with the sign "Dr. P.E.Nis, Cock Doctor")

Urologist. Some use andrologist instead; IIRC, an andrologist also has an endocrine background and maybe a bit of psych.

This is interesting. How big are you? Are you wearing the right size condom? I'm focusing in on your statement that when you put the condom on, you lost your erection. I'm wondering if your condom is too tight and is fucking with the mechanism that holds blood in the penis.

To clarify, you don't have erectile problems when masturbating, right? And you don't wear a condom when masturbating, right?

Another potential cause could be latex allergy. Do you notice any redness, soreness or swelling (not the good kind of swelling) after wearing a condom?

I 've never measured my girth, but never had a problem with condoms - or any latex allergy, as far as I can tell. My sex life begun 4 years ago and I have always used a condom with no such side effects whatsoever. The only thing I can pinpoint is that opening and wearing the condom is indeed killing my mood, but this is happening only now, all the previous years I had no problem at all.

i dont know if this is effective but technically, i think it is...

use a postage stamp and place it across your head and shaft just before sleeping. if in the morning, it is detatched or torn, means the problem is psychosomatic...

i dont know if this is a right test for you...

Would having a mood disorder on top of this complicate matters?

To some degree having less testosterone may help my temperment (Ray smash puny clerk at Walmart), but will kill the sex life. Wow, being male sure is more complex lately. I wanna be a caveman. *grabs club and looks for JWB*

There's an easy way to find out if higher testosterone levels will improve things: try taking some T-boosting supplements for a couple weeks.

A combination of Chrysin and Tribulus terrestris will jack up your T levels if they're low. They're not steriods or precursors: they cause your body to produce more T itself and/or block the conversion of T to estradiol. It's usually best to cycle two weeks on, one week off.

Bodybuilders talk about this stuff all the time, because higher T levels make it easier to pack on muscle.

If that's what I think he's talking about, it's illegal, and it makes your balls atrophy.
[post=322584]Quoted post[/post]

No, and no. (PSA: Please check your facts before making blanket statements.)

They're OTC supplements, available in the USA from physical and web-based vitamin stores.

As I said before, they're not the same as steroids. Many steroids mimic T, which causes your body to produce less and less since you're getting so much from outside, and eventually can cause testicular atrophy.

In the case of aromatase inhibitors (Chrysin), your body is *producing* more T, because the aromatase inhibitor is messing with the feedback loop your body normally uses to control the production of T.

Cthulhu: After all, the only problem was mental. I haven't changed anything and now everything is back to normal.

The problem with mental stuff like that is that the more you think about it (because you are concerned) the worse it goes...
