I've never had an actual roommate - at Uni we all had seperate rooms, so it was just a matter of keeping relatively quiet and being discreet with your supply of toilet roll.

If I was living in that situation, I think I would just be very strait forward very quickly and just say - "look, I'm single, I need to relieve myself every now and again, I don't know if you masturbate, but I do, and rather than pissing around and trying to be discreet, which is going to be impossible, maybe we could come to a sort of arrangement?"

when i was staying in the dorms we didnt have bunks, but seperate beds. Yes, but I moved off campus after my freshman year. So that I could have my own room. This made bringing home a woman much more plausible as well.
