I feel like lpsg forum has gotten really catty and judgemental. I asked a vulnerable question that may not be normal but all a I get is sarcasm and judgement back. It's a lot of intensity. Lpsg used to be a friendly place where people responded to each others ideas I want that back. So my experience is different, don't hate me or judge me, respond with respect even if you don't agree or have the same experience.
It is really tempting to use your alaska location make the penguin joke where you get to have sex once a year and it is really sad if you have a headache that night. It is really tempting to be humorous and ignore the original message.
I echo the concern about judgmental stuff - maybe we should be directing people to Dan Savage's columns instead of this site. The responders above should be ashamed of themselves, but they represent the mainstream view that normal people do not jerk off with others around. Isn't this the forum where this sort of thing should be allowed to be discussed.
Plenty of fratdudes separated by curtains at most figure (secretive vs jerking off a curtain away from my buddies = I need to jerk off and I can't be bothered with the secrecy for a whole year, particularly when you are comfortable fucking your girlfriend so close that I could help out).
My experience has been brief open masturbation policies, eventually the straight dudes decide it is a little too gay and clam up.
This may be more of a question about a gay dude coming out (gently hopefully) - it may be a very bold desire of a straight frat dude wanting to bond more closely with his brothers, or just someone who likes to jerk off and doesn't see the need to hide it.
I think it is awesome, and so should you, but you should expect the kind of judgmental response you have seen from this site.
