So, I have a confession to make; I'm a mathematics geek. Well, chemistry also to a lesser extent, but you get the picture Any other people out there who appreciate maths for its beautiful logic systems and chemistry for the ways in which it helps us learn about our world's workings? :biggrin1:
I've been interested in mathematics and its relation to music for quite a while, but only recently made any attempt to actually understand and study it.
Yes, yes and Yes....you'd really enjoy this book i recently heard about, i heard an interview from the author and he's so cool. Amazon.com: The Math Book: From Pythagoras to the 57th Dimension, 250 Milestones in the History of Mathematics (9781402757969): Clifford A. Pickover: Books
I'm a bit rubbish at it, even tho im studying accounts lol. I seem to make simple, careless mistakes. Pass me the calc.
Everybody knows that Maths is just BORING :biggrin1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tRdLD6vh3g&feature=related
Mathematics = cool. It's the universal language, man! Chem = even cooler. Bunsen burners and potions and the periodic table, oh my!
Autofellatio: Why do you say you "confess" to liking Math? One confesses to crimes. Inherent in the "shame," I think, is the assumption that people on this site -- who presumably enjoy sex, or at least think about it alot -- should not also enjoy academic subjects. Not me. I enjoy both my big organs: my brain AND my dick. All that said, I do know that many people (or women I've slept with) have been surprised by the size of my lower organ -- they assume that a Jewish Math nerd may have a big brain, but probably a small penis. Sorry, I guess I'm thrice chosen -- and happy for it.
Not so much anymore, but I used to go to the library and check out math books --- my favorite still is The History of Pi by Petr somebody-or-the-other.
Wow, interesting responses Ah, well. Must be habit - most people I know find my maths liking to be unnerving  Yup, I do enjoy exercising my brain as well as my body and libido... Might as well use everything I have been born with XD @ SilverTrain - Chem is cool as well, but not so much as good ol' math, IMO
Well I find Mobius strips cool -- and making the beast of the mobius strip even cooler  (at least I used to)
Well, while I used to be able to make myself into a simple Mobius strip, I was never flexible enough to make one of those double twist Mobius strips
That would be Petr Beckmann. I've read many good things about that book, pinspotter. It must be as good as you say.
