For me, he was the reason I kept watching Six Feet Under long after it became a so-so show. He purposely kept interviews to a minimum during the run of the show as he didn't want people to make any asummptions about him. A pretty decent guy by all reports, although not gay, he is gay friendly.
He is on my hot guy list.
