Maybe he’s doing it as part of the sponsorship to have free alcohol at his wedding reception? Even sober people serve alcohol at their wedding, except if it’s an overall sober wedding situation. I’m sure a large number of Gays wouldn’t come and bring presents if there was no alcohol at the receptionist, not that I know anything about it as I don’t usually go to them myself l, but for many it seems drinking is a key element within the celebration.
