wvalady1968: Actually, since I've moved in with him, perhaps I'm his housemate.
He's a complex guy. Some people are intimidated by him, but that's usually an indication that they realize he knows that they're not what they should be.
He lost his wife, his college sweetheart, to breast cancer a few years ago, and finished raising their two girls, who are as beautiful and sweet as their mother was. They're attending separate colleges out of town, but their bedrooms are still here.
He's not a pretty man. Most women would walk past him without noticing him [Thank God], but he's a considerable amount of personality. He's a man's man, which comes from a lifelong love of anything athletic, but he has enough self confidence to act very silly in front of me and the girls. [Going so far as to even do a farcical ballet routine in the kitchen, complete with mock tutu, which had us almost rolling on the floor!]
He doesn't smother, and he doesn't father. He values my opinions enough to seek them out. And when I relax enough to be completely honest, he astounds me by often laughing out loud at the way I express myself.
And he's a big guy. Not fat, just large. For the first time in a long, long time, I feel "petite". I'm 5'9" and 140#; he's 6'3" and ~220#. We spent a night at a friend's house this weekend in a double bed and learned about not sleeping for all the wrong reasons.
He may come here. He knows I do and we've talked about some of the posts. [Especially the first ones when you all helped me.] If he does, it'll be under his own name or guest name.
Folks, meet David!
