    Quick clarification:

My erection stands at around a 30 to 45 degree angle, depending. By measuring my dick along the top, putting the end of the ruler where my dick meets my body, I'll get one measurement. But if I then push my erection towards the floor, the measurement lengthens.

    My question is this:

Should we be measuring in a way that gives us the most length?

The measurement that counts is the amount of penis that can be inserted into the body orifice of choice.

If you are going to have coitus in the position you described, go ahead and use that measurement but be prepared to piss off your partner.

With my penis in that position I'd be more likely to piss ON my partner.

Let's think about your critique. I, nor any man (or woman with a strap-on), would say we measure at zero inches in length if anyone of us chose to use the nostril or the ear. Both, technically, are orifices. Quoting, "The measurement that counts is the amount of penis that can be inserted into the body orifice of choice."

Secondly, the question I asked in this thread is should we be measuring in a way that gives us the most length? I specifically made no mention of "position" or "orifice".

Use whatever method tickles your ego the most.

From what I've been able to understand, you can take a reliable measure of yourself by stretching your flaccid dick as far as it will go perpendicular to your body and measuring with a hard ruler pressed against the pubic bone.

This is how they do it in penis size surveys for obvious reasons; no erection is necessary, and the pubic bone above the penis is a bony reference point--not soft tissue.
