I'm curious if anyone on here does Meatless Mondays (or other variations), and your reasoning behind it.

For me, a lot of meats made me feel kind of sick while eating or slightly after. An example, as far as chicken goes, I can only eatchicken wings without feeling sick because of how little meat it actually has compared to the skin. I can occasionally eat Chicken Legs and never have been able to stomach chicken thighs or breasts. There are other foods, but that was the one on the top of my head. I started doing meatless Mondays mainly to encourage myself to eat more green and less greasy foods (among a few other reasons) and it helps my tolerance with meats when I do eat them.

How about any of you? Would love to hear others thoughts/feelings toward the subject.

And is appreciate mildly serious-serious replies. I know it's not for everyone and I know some people find it ridiculous, but some people do enjoy less meat/no meat at all. Can we be respectful of others opinions...even though this is the internet.

We tend to eat a diet balanced toward non-meat foods, but for me/us, sticking to a particular day for being meatless would be kind of a hassle. Usually we eat whatever is quick and easy and at hand, and it generally is based on vegetables & pasta/rice.

I do meatless Friday's (for subjective religious reasons) which basically aligns with what you're saying. My diet almost exclusively consists of fish and chicken, and in that order. I don't bring any other meat into the house. Aside from the occasional burger - at an actual restaurant, not fast food - I never order any other meat, though I have no problem eating it if it's being served like as part of a catered meal, dinner party, etc.

I typically eat pretty decent thru the week and workout M-F, so the weekend comprises my downtime/cheat days. Friday is my cleanest meal day, so for me it's nice, at least psychologically, to go into the weekend knowing I ate decently before downing what will inevitably be more sweets and junk than I do during the week. As ridiculous as that may sound, I'm sure you get what I mean. ;)

My wife went vegan for a bit (was a junk food/ frozen prepared food vegan) and I did a few meatless meals with her. Some of the frozen stuff was great in chili and for stir fry, but she ended up messing up her health because of all the processed soy.
Are there good meatless subs out there? Yes, would I go out of my way, nope.
I was happy to support her and cook for her but it's just not my thing.

For me I really enjoy making meatless meals. I don't know why, but it just makes me feel better haha

I don't think I could go full vegan, it's just not me lol. But vegetarian chili has been my favourite meatless meal I've cooked so far (I've only made about 2-3 meals so).

The beyond beef Fiesta or taco crumbles go great in chili. 3 cans of different beans, packet of chili seasoning, chopped tomatoes and a veggie bullion cube and it tastes like beef chili, but without feeling as heavy.

Hmm I'm definitely going to try that stuff next time I make the chili!

I think that's great that you do that, there's many other ways to get protein besides meat. With that said, I also think that the average person eats too much meat. Naturally, what happen if you eat too much of something? I don't have a meatless day (I strictly eat lean meats by the way), however I pick mid-day eating period where I consume a large portion of meat. So I eat one large portion of meat a day (mid-day), then I have all these other things I eat that gives me protein. Or if I do eat meat again (more so before the big meat portion), I'll eat some turkey sausage which I cut a specific size of and pair it with greek yoghurt. Since I've done things like this, I've felt amazing, like seriously. I don't feel sluggish, I don't feel tired, I also get the sleep I need which is key, and I don't eat really late at night anymore unless it's something light.

I'd probably be doing something similar if my body would allow me haha. Beef is the one type of meat I can eat without any problems it seems.

For me, I try to eat as little pork as possible. When I do eat pork, it's the leanest and healthiest pork. Pork Tenderloin.
