THAT'S what I miss about the south. We won't see spring for another couple months. Our lake is still so frozen that you can drive trucks on it. Last year it didn't thaw out until mid-April. UGH!

You can't beat Springtime in the South...although Winter down here isn't too bad either...we had temps in the 60's and 70's well into January, then we finally got a blast of Winter weather. Overall this year has been pretty mild, we had one day of snow, it melted by the next day--accumulation was about 1/2". We've had a lot of rain, but it's never been really cold. I can't complain as it's already starting to warm up again, the daffodils and jonquils are starting to grow up in my yard, so I know the rest of the spring flowers are on their way, too.

Texie, Do you remember last year, when even the ocean froze? Now THAT was funny. And creepy in a way seeing a wave frozen in place...but still great! It would have been better had we gotten mroe snow though. I'm probably about 2 hours away from you too, too bad I'm a guy :p

Also it's not that I hate roller coasters beacause it's a roller coaster, I just hate that weird feeling you get in your stomach when going down real fast >< it's annoying! I can work my way up though!

I don't remember the ocean freezing, but I live near the Vermont border. We don't hear much about those people that live on the ocean. ha/ha But yes, last year was nearly brutal!

Yaoifun, it is exactly that feeling in my stomach that makes me love roller coastes. Same reason that I always wanted my Dad to drive really fast over bumps/humps in the road, too, when I was a child.

I have not met anyone from here; however, I would guess that we only expose a very small part of ourselves (pun intended) to each other.

Meeting another member (pun intended) would demonstrate that we may not really know each other at all because there is probably a lot more to each of us than just our posts here online.

I've met a couple of LPSGers in real life. One turned out to be a local, and after a couple of times hanging out, it just feels awkward and strange and I don't feel like we have much common ground -- other than posting here -- that would contribute toward a good friendship. On the other hand, it just so happened a member lives near some family I have in the Midwest, and I stayed with him for a few days over the Christmas break. I had a blast. He's a really cool guy that I admire quite a bit, and it's good that we keep in touch.

In the meantime, I made a separate group on my Yahoo Messenger for all my LPSG buddies I keep up with.

So, you never really know what to expect. Just come at a situation with an open mind and your wits ('cause you never know if a troll's behind the other side of the PC, you see) and you can really enjoy the people here for what they are worth.

I don't think anyone on here is from Nebraska, so not much of a chance of meeting anyone.

summer, I'll ride roller coasters with you anytime, I love em. A while back I actually thought about going into structural engineering so I could design them, but decided I didn't like structures so that fell through. Rollercoaster Tycoon, however, lets me kill hour off of my life making fake roller coasters at least. :)

I haven't met anyone in person, however, I've only been on here a few weeks...

But I do think it would be a good idea to have a day at a theme park or something... I would love to meet some of the people on here...

so, here's the thing... if we end up having a huge group meeting at a theme park or something, would it be a yearly event, or would it be a one time thing?

My guess is that it would be more of a one time thing each year if such a meeting could ever occur. The membership seems to fluctuate so much that it would be hard to set a date when we're never sure if the same people would be back again next year.

We'd also have to come up with a way to identify ourselves, other than the obvious!
Don't want to be arrested for indecent exposure! :D

LapDog :p

I haven't met anyone from lpsg yet. There have been a few potential meetings, but nothing has worked out yet.

p.s. I Looooove the roooollllycoasters!

(Isn't that from some old Bill Cosby skit?)

It's been my privilege to meet the great Max on more than one occasion - in fact, we lunched together last week. I can tell fellow members that he is fun to be with, intelligent and thoughtful. He also guards his privacy rigorously so I am among a fortunate few.

See, I guard my privacy as well. So count me among those who would not be all gung-ho about a large group gathering.

There are certainly individulas in this group that I would like to meet at some point (and feel comfortable with them knowing my real name, job, etc), but revealing myself to a large portion of members is out of the question.

I've met enough really strange and crazy people on the Net over the years and know better. No offense to anyone. :)

Altairion, I ask you (beg you) to design the scariest & fastest rollercoaster for me. Hey, where is the world's fastest, highest, most memorable, whatever rollercoaster now? I used to keep up on that info.

I have not been to roller coaster heaven (Cedar Point, Ohio) but the Superman, Ride of Steel at Six-Flags, New England still makes most top 5 and top 10 lists. It is the scariest I've been on so far. You are sitting in chairs and the sides of the 'car' are less than a foot tall, so there is nothing but open air to your left or right (based on your seat.)
On the left, thee is one row of trees, then a lake, which looks scarier than it sounds from 200 feet up! This ride uses lap belts or bars, no over the shoulder restraints since there are no inversions.

In the attached picture, the 200 foot drop goes immediately underground in the dark another 20 feet deeper. You are weightless at least 6 times. Unfortunately, there was a death within the last year or two. They had to redesign the lap belts for this coaster and a few others just like it around the country.

Speaking of that ride, my schools music program went to Music in the Parks last year, hosted by 6 flags (Band won best in show, chorus got best treble choir...they said we didn't have enough low voices to win...plthhh to them! It was still loads of fun!) and it was like, right after the guy fell off. I could hardly stand in front of that ride >< I did go on some less crazy things though, but i was disappointed that the water park was just in the first stages of opening, like refilling the place, because it was hot as Hell and I love the water!

That rollercoaster must be one hell of a ride!

The best rollercoaster I;ve been on is probably the "Aerosmith Rockin' Roller Coaster" at DisneyWorld. Its pretty outrageous.
