I just recently bought the new edition of The Passion Of the Christ and although I'm not really a christian, I must admit i've always been fascinated with the story of Christ. Mel Gibson's film although a bit too violent is still a masterpiece! I think he took a huge risk and it paid off well both on an artistic and commercial level.
I haven't seen his last film but I'll check it out in time on DVD.

I don't care much for him as an actor and his personal life is whatever to me. If anything, I used to think he was sort of hot when he was younger.

What are your thoughts on the man and his work people?

    He's a bit of a 'phope.
The last film of his I saw was Braveheart, the way he caricaturized Edward II was too much to put up with.

Apocalypto is good if you like movies, but it's entirely inaccurate.

There's very few movies about the Maya. Is it necessary to make an extremely inaccurate movie about them? The Spanish didn't show up until the Aztec had covered the area.

Mel Gibson was so hot when he was Mad Max, or in Year of Living Dangerously however I feel the years haven't been kind to him.
When it comes to his films he's not making historical documentaries, he's purely going for blockbuster entertainment so I try to watch them on that level and discount that they're historically inaccurate - after all which Hollywood blockbusters stick to the whole truth?
