Bri and I were talking about this yesterday afternoon. I think the picture is hot but I can definitely see why BB would have second thoughts about keeping it up. I too think it is wrong to think that a beautiful person with a hot bod is easy, cheap or a slut. I can relate though. I get PM's from people who assume that because I look the way I look that I am a total stud and that I must be more than eager to fuck every guy in sight. The thing is that if they took a minute to glance away from the avatar and read your post they would see that you are an intelligent person with a sense of self worth who would never go for that shit. So, I say Brava for putting your new avatar up and I hope that you will become more and more comfortable with it being up over time unless some pervy asshole ruins it! You know I love you BB and I support your discussion either way.

what the hell is wrong with being a "slut" anyway?? as I've said before, nobody is 1) happier 2) more laid-back or 3) more well-rounded as a person, than a "slut." I much prefer women who are like me in that respect - women who aren't afraid to say "I like to fuck! let's go!" in whatever words (or non-verbal means) - than those who've had it all battered out of them by the ceaseless assaults of hypocritical social "values."

what kind of bullshit is it that when a male displays overt sexual intention it's socially admirable and identifies him as a "stud" or whatever, but when a female does it she's socially stigmatized as a slut? fuck that. anyone who thinks women aren't just as entitled as men to go grab some ass when they feel like it needs to choke on a big greasy shut-the-fuck-up sandwich.

LOL!

Dr.Rock, I think you have another "amen! " coming your way. IT really is all very hypocritical. But I can see living in the world as it is why BB may chose to be a bit careful.

Hi there,

above all my compliments to Doc B - you look as seductive and sexy as you can be on that icon - I love it! And I think Roddy here agrees with me.

On the subject in general, I think it's some traditional thought that women are to behave modest and keep the physical assets and the exposure of them limited to their legal partner, aka her husband - and women who don't play by this rule thereby are stigmatized with a wild reputation (a personal note on that - I don't mind wild reputations at all, I love a wild woman!) and are called sluts, whores and all kinds of other terms, least of which are flattering.

At the same time, the men showing off men are accepted as doing so is a way to fight for an alpha male position in a group of men by presenting themselves as the most masculine, most powerful, best-looking, best-DNA-pool-promising stud - which is a legitimate and acknowledged ritual, already put down in written form in all kinds of ancient scriptums, bible etc.

However, bigotry and hypocrisy as two wide-spread social phenomenons underline this conservative view on men and women showing their physical assets - it's a mean of excluding women that don't just fit themselves into their role cliche from a larger group.

To all those women who face discrimination and descriptions in unflattering terms, I recommend Jeannie C. Riley's song 'Harper Valley PTA'. It's a song in which the slut of a town de-masks the respected citizens as liars, drunks and double-faced hypocrits. Listen to it - it's great, depicting the subject from a funny side.

Ladies and Gents... I read through these things and actually became teary eyed. Taking the pics was in itself something a difficult decision. It was something that went against every fiber of my being. Yet, I questioned why not? The pics I took were tasteful, although some were probably a little more explicit than what I would have thought. Women have the right, just as men, to be confident, to be secure and to appreciate themselves.

I was never raised to be arrogant or conceited, nor was I raised to be a braggart about my looks, abilities, etc. Modesty was first and foremost in our household. In many respects, it still amplifies itself in my "new pics" by virtue of my face being blotted out.

To respond to those who have questioned my decision to "block out" my face... I work in higher education. I have posted other pics here with my face only to have to delete them every day for fear of a co-worker or a student seeing me here. Again, by virtue of my position on campus, I must be careful about what I am "showcasing." Granted, I have a little more racier pic up now, but my face is covered - thus not allowing for students, faculty or staff to make that connection.

Dr. Rock... what can I say... ? AMEN

And Bri and Jeep... I love you both  But, then you know that.

Dr B, I find your avatar sexy but definately not "slutty". I think it was tastefully done. By the way u look fantastic.

Dr B, very fantastic avatar, kudos to you!

Re having a picture of a dick. Looking at a pic of someones penis isn't all too nice, not as disconcerting as looking at a Cavernous Pootang (especially if it is looking back at you!)

(Aha! See Steve319, you can get it into conversations!)

Your decision to protect the integrity of your professional life by covering your face in no way limits or dilutes the freedom that you're celebrating (nor the beauty of your spirit).

Would that everyone were as open-minded as the people here at the LPSG! But we live in the real world, so we completely understand your choice. It's certainly sounds like the right one.

I still agree with most of the people here. Sexy and slutty are mutually exclusive, and your pic's sexy. Now, slutty would be if you were being gang-banged by five or more midgets.

Well Dr. Bubbles, "fit as". (She toying with us lads (please don't stop))

As for Madame Zora's new avatar. She does seem to have the expression of somebody who's just read a post, asking if that's a nose piercing, or a booger.

I'll get me coat.

gamma_phi: I think it's our job to tear down these walls of double standards so that everyone can feel free to express themselves anyway they want without being ridiculed or criticized for doing it. It's us that need to stop the finger pointing, until then , there will always be double standards.

Dr. Bubbles, beautiful avatar!

Dr. Bubbles... Dr. Bubbles! I seem to have developed a huge (well fairly
large) swelling. Please can you prescribe something to treat it.

(You are a real doctor, aren't you?)

I was thinking about this after I saw the newly posted avatar of our resident Doctor, Dr. Bubbles. (Which looks very, very nice I have to say ;) )

Anyway, I was thinking about how people perceive such avatars. I have talked with bb a fair amount, and she just wanted a new fun avatar up. However, she is a bit worried about whether people will change their views of her due to a single picture as an avatar.

Now thinking about this from a different perspective, say one of us guys did that. Would you think of me any differently if I would throw up a picture of my dick (no it isn't going to happen) as an avatar? In my mind, us guys tend to have a greater freedom without any negative consequences, but the ladies of the world don't quite have that freedom.

Is this just in my mind, or has anyone else noticed this?

I know sometimes I feel quite attracted toward the women of LPSG but I've been afraid to say it more openly. I think I didn't want to offend any of these sweet people. But you all are very beautiful and helpful in your support.

Whatever avatars you want to use, I'd be happy to see.

PS. Dr.Bubbles, you are very lovely. :D

Everyone is dancing around the point that confidence in any presentation is the basis of its attractiveness. The David in Florence is magnificent because of how "out there" it is while being also well formed. It 'turns you on" by its entirety, not its shape per se. Dr. Bubbles is extremely attractive, but so are TAG, MZ and some of the other women JUST as appealing and certainly arousing in their own ways because of and not in spite of their confidence. I have known so-called beautiful and shapely women who just turn you off with their negativity, coldness, or lack of self-worth.

I had not planned to comment in this fashion about the women here, but... FWIW
