i suspect the only major difference between 1 and 2 is conscience.

I've never gotten off on inflicting pain on a woman during sex. It has actually stopped me from going any further or deeper. And during other times completely killed ma bone. Different strokes for different folks though i guess.

While i do not like inflicting pain on women in any way , there have been women that have screamed at me to hurt them , though i'm not endowed to the extent that would cause any harm , even if i wished it so . We all can get "carried away " during sex , but there is a distinct difference between unrestrained lust ,and sheer brutality . My favorite part is when ,both of us are exhausted ,and she is snuggled in close , asleep in my arms. .It indicates trust and I'll take all of that i can get. Having said all that , when i'm being fucked by a hung guy , i really do get off on the pain of hard penetration, but that's a different story. Women , i just love , and to hurt them in ANY way is simply not on for me .
