Dress For Success - Luxury Men's Suit Brand Review | The Life of Luxury
It always amazes me how the suit has stayed practically the same for so long (hundreds of years now)
When you look through history books men's fashion varied a lot more over the centuries.
What is it about the current suit that keeps it in fashion?
It is the uniform of business men, polititians etc. from all over the world with few regional variations.

What happened to the futuristic suits that 70s-80s Sci-fi films suggested that we would be wearing in the 21st century?

I'm getting bored of the suit but there aren't many alternatives!

The suit is a classical and good product and worn well by many men and will be weared well by many men. Good suit makes the man. That is why we still wear it.
Also because a man in uniform/suit is more atractive, get more attention from the women or men

The fashion industry is far more female-oriented than male.
Fashion allows for more variations among women than men...
But things have changed over time, just not that drastic as with the women.
For most formal events or even attending a play/opera, a man wore a tuxedo, not just a nice suit. Things have become more lax in that sense.

If you were hoping for some variety in your wardrobe, put a dress on. Essentially, menswear is going to stay as a shirt and pants/shorts and maybe a jacket. That's just what is accepted.

Uniforms seem to be more creative than the classical suit.
Clearly the men's suit design has been optimised and can't get any better for most people. Maybe it is out of convenience and ease that men buy suits to immediately become "smart". Most men don't really want to be concerned with fashion and looking special.

It surprises me though that with all the developments in technology, the suit doesn't evolve: it could become lighter, water resistant, bullet proof, have integrated cooling and heating etc. this might bring about an evolution in the design, since form follows function.

Corrupt tax-and-spend-and-borrow socialist politicians wear suits and ties, so I don't want to wear them. Why would I want to wear the COSTUME of a corrupt politician?

Wash-and-wear more casual clothes, are so much cheaper, and more comfortable.

When I graduated from college 11 years ago, I wondered if I'd get a job that required that I wear a suit to work. When I accepted my present postion, I was glad that the dress code was casual. I only wear a suit to weddings and funerals.

Why change something that is good already. I know, forms follows function, but look in history, things that are made good for the first time, we still use. And a suit is one of them. Suits become lighter and all of those gadgets were used, but there isn't a big market for it, because the people who wants a suit, always pick the classic, suitable suit.
