Ignorance > Curiosity. Regretregretregret that I clicked on that link.
And on a side note, even though I feel annoyed and hate talking about my period, that has NOTHING to do with society. It has to deal with my personal feelings. I know very few women who appreciate having a monthly period unless they thought they were pregnant. Ick.
I talk about my period with some friends and family - and about theirs, if they are female, which most of those I'd discuss it with are. It shouldn't be a taboo subject. We're all going through it - why not share?
Recently I discovered that Calcium and vit D supplements really help with breast tenderness and mood - I've been sharing that info with anyone who will listen as it might help them too. I've swapped info about flow and consistency before and after pregnancy with other mothers. I've discussed cramps and back pains - looking for and offering help in pain relief.
Why the hell wouldn't I? Why the hell wouldn't any woman? It isn't 'ick' - it is a normal, everyday thing... and should be treated as such. By men as well as women.
I tell HickBoy what's going on with my body too, if I feel he needs to know or if I want him, as my best friend and partner, to sympathise and offer comfort. I don't see it as any different than if he had a sore back or headache and needed my sympathy and a little TLC.
I appreciate my monthly period. It is my body working how it should and I accept and love that about being a woman. Even if it is uncomfortable sometimes.
