I agree that I'd want my plug pulled.

I don't see what the family hopes to gain by keeping their brain-dead child on life support. It's understandable they're not ready to face the harsh reality, but I hope, for their own sake, they'll come to the point where they're able to let go.

That said, I think the hospital should respect their wish to move the girl to another facility.

Supposedly the hospital is saying the family is being sold a bill of goods by their advisors, that there is some way for her to recover, when there really isn't the slightest chance in hell.

Still, it seems odd to me that the hospital would be so obstinate as to now allow her to be "treated" elsewhere, though, given the hospital's line of thought, shipped might be the more apt term.

Btw: Shout out to the moderators...this story features a minor, so feel free to take it away.

Whilst a stupid rule, certainly in this context, you'll have done far sillier things than removing this story, so have at it.

You fellas need to research more of this story, as with most news reports on the 'net. You are only getting a sliver of what's out there regarding this, thanks to half ass media coverage and the fact that the family is not being honest. Anyone interested has to look up multiple stories by multiple news sources to find out what is really going on.

The hospital has asked the family to let them have their say in the media as to what happened, but the family has refused them. The family, on the other hand, has released as much slander against the hospital as they and their lawyer can come up with. This has gone way beyond grieving family and is now a media circus of lies and fraud. If anyone thinks different, then they have not looked at this story in depth, but are taking the absolutely terrible news coverage and the family's statements to the press as the truth.

A sad reflection of our society today and the manipulation of us by the media and people who know how to use it to their advantage.

Not sure how much else the hospital wants to say, but I've seen clips saying that their doctors who have examined the gal and have knowledge of the situation vehemently believe her to be legally dead, and that is their primary reason for going against further action.

Still, assuming that's the gist (I'd be curious to know the full scoop) of their stance, I can't see why they would go against the family's efforts...aside from potential cost, which I can't speak to.

To be totally honest, I'm not going to do more research because I don't give a flippin fuck about it...it's an awful situation for the gal and her family, and that's it.

They're not against the move but the family lawyer wants the hospital to do a tracheostomy for the move, and it's against medical ethics to operate on a legally dead person, unless given permission to harvest organs for transplant. They won't find any doctor who will do it. No credible facility will take her, and the hospital will not release her to some fly by night, half ass facility for obvious reasons.

She has been declared legally dead by at least 3 of the top doctors in the Bay Area. The family has set up a donation fund for the airlift transportation, so they say. Last time I checked there was over 35,000 bucks donated to this fraud from well meaning, but foolish people. She is not going anywhere. If the family does not reimburse these donations, it's 100% fraud.

Feel sad for the girl, but the family, as I mentioned is not just grieving. They're being dishonest, conniving, and using their deceased daughter for fraud. That's all I am going to post. Anyone wants more info, feel free to look it up.

I can't address this story but I went through a personal situation in September. I won't go into details but until you are put in this type situation you have no idea what emotions you go through, doubt about what you are being told and the heartbreak of seeing a loved one in this situation.
There was a living will which stated that no extrodinary proceedures should be done, but here's the difference in my case. She still was able to understand what was occurring and what she was being told and you could see it in her eyes that she didn't want to give up. After doctors explained the situation to her she eventually made the choice, which was an amazing and brave decision that I don't think many could make. It wasn't left up to us to decide, but it was left up to us that her last moments were carried out in way that she wanted.
It was the most amazing moments in my life to see the bravery and love she had.
