Not sure how many of you know, but the new album leaked yesterday. I wasn't aware of it until just an hour or so ago, but I couldn't help myself, I downloaded it off of piratebay.org. Don't worry, I will definitely be buying it anyways. They are my absolute favorite band, I have everything of theirs (and love everything, even St. Anger) , and I have to say, IMO, this is one of my favorite albums. It seriously sounds like AJFA, I would easily rank it up there with that, and Puppets. It's a solid album, lots of thrash, some slower stuff, but all very catchy. I've been banging my head throughout the whole thing, and it clocks in at over an hour. It's has the old sound with a modern feel.

Where have you been living? In a Chinese pipe?

[Metallica] has become one of the most commercially successful and influential heavy metal acts. With 90 million records sold worldwide, including 57 million in the United States, the band has won seven Grammy Awards, and has had four albums peak at number one on the Billboard 200. The band's 1991 album, Metallica, has sold over 15 million copies, which makes it the 25th highest selling album in the United States.

Of all the heavy metal bands I followed as a teenager Metallica are about the only ones I will still listen to. They actually have something - and it endures. Some of their stuff can be samey but in a band that has been playing for 27 years that's not entirely surprising.

Jason, you're killing me! They're only the biggest heavy metal band of all time. They are even in San Fran!

MB, thanks for stating that. They have been doing this for 27 years. Bands change, people change. I genuinely like everything they have done. Hell, Reload was my first album, followed by Load. The two albums of theirs that pretty much everyone hates. I worked my way backwards and fell in love.

This new one is head banging speed metal thrash just like their 80's stuff.

Sorry my love. But your teen years were before I was born. Sorry I just dont know them.

Sweetpea - maths just isn't your strong point so I'll help you out. I don't know when your birthday is but I'm about 10 1/2 or 11 years older than you - which means you were a toddler and young child during my teen years. Metallica were, by the way, just as popular (actually probably more so) when you were a teenager in the mid to late 90s. (Note: Mr.Hardcock is the same age as you.) They are the architypal American metal / hard rock band and were a BIG part of the soundtrack of the 90s. Now obviously you missed that - and that's OK - you can't be aware of every cultural phenominon. The Spice Girls and Britney needed fans too

Yes, they did. But he has said he is going to buy it as soon as it comes out, too.

yea...great album. largely due in part to super producer rick rubin. it was their first time working with him and he purposely made them do things exactly how they did them back in the day (i.e., the recording process). that is exactly why the album sounds like ajfa with a hint of modern era.

now if only chinese democracy would leak...(the real one)

MrHardcock. Im sorry, but its not my thing. But Im happy you like them and their new cd. Are you banging your head as you type? lol.

Nope, talking to someone you know right now.

On the contrary, they are cool with downloading now. They have been uploading one new song each week on their site for download.
