I would say that I've known a lot of people who made good judgement calls in one area of thinking but were total assholes elsewhere.

Case in point: politicians elected with KKK affiliations.

And if you think it's censorship, what about Farley Mowatt, author of Never Cry Wolf and pleasant never-would-hurt-a-fly Canadian, who was listed by the Reagan Administration as a "potential enemy of the State" for being an outspoken ecologist. He wasn't allowed entry into the USA for decades as "freedom's flag waved over the amber waves of grain" etc.
