It seems as though GOP Chairman Michael Steele has finally acknowledged that the Republicans have consistently sought to use racial tensions to their own political advantage.

“For the last 40-plus years we had a ‘Southern Strategy’ that alienated many minority voters by focusing on the white male vote in the South. Well, guess what happened in 1992, folks, ‘Bubba’ went back home to the Democratic Party and voted for Bill Clinton.”
The entire article is here.

To those who practice intentional ignorance will deny the obvious. It has been hugely successful without it they would have never been able to hobble together enough cohesion to win elections.

Yup, Bbucko, this is a good thread. But notice how little attention it's getting? No one wants to believe the truth, even when it benefits them.

Kudos to Sargon, too, for the Moyer's link.

And when the real whacko fringe posters do comment, they'll cry foul saying someone/everyone is "just using the race card."

Sad.

Very telling, huh. The silence in this thread does speak volumes....

Yup, no GOP disguised as Teabaggers seem to care. No GOP "heart land" types seemed motivated to comment. Teabaggers, in general, are racist by default, so the are oblivious to anything wrong. Looks like Michael Steele will hang on to his "head of the GOP" job despite what looks like malfeasance and $2,000 worth of lap and pole dancing purchased as "entertainment" expenses by an underling Eagle Republican for other Eagle GOP-types.

But on the fun side of life: Robert Ensign (my other Senator in Nevada) has raised a whole $50 in campaign funds the first quarter of 2010, and we now have Susie Cream Cheese Lowden, one-time Vegas news meat puppet, who is pushing her "Chickens for Checkups" health care alternative. It's amazing that no black politico from Vegas has been willing to take on the Democrats. It's just "white noise" as usual.

I didn't post this as flame bait, but you're right: the silence among the GOP apologists around here is kinda deafening. Of course, the next time one of them waxes long about "special interests" and "identity politics", this thread'll be a handy thing to resurrect.

Personally, I already knew this and don't give a shit what oreo-boy has to say about it... Just because dipshit Michael Steele admitted an obvious truth, doesn't make that obvious truth any more real than it already was before he admitted it.

Regardless, the Republicans continue to isolate themselves both culturally and politically, which is the best thing the country at large could possibly hope for moving forward. They might pick up a few seats this year, but within an election or two, they're going to have to either completely redefine what it means to be a Republican, or there won't be a Republican Party.

And that will be a revelation.

Apologies for the religious-themed term. :biggrin1:

NCbear (who wishes the GOP'd get the hell on with their implosion--and the rabid leftist wingnuts in the Democratic Party would do the same--so we could have some pragmatic discussion of the issues we need to face as a country: energy consumption, population/immigration, the economy, education, etc.)

AGREED!

Except of course the tiny number of hard lefties we have in this country have almost no pull in politics, even with Dems in office.

Midlifebear that show was one of the most eye-opening shows Bill has ever done. The War on Drugs was nothing more than political strategy that has had devastating consequences. Just so incredibly sad.

living in an adjacent state, and having friends in maryland, i have no idea why this dude was picked to head the party. he did not do jack shit when he was 2nd in command of the state. other than them thinking if they had a black man at the helm, we will get more black votes. it doesnt work that way. i dont vote for someone based on skin color, and i dont think most of them do either.

this party is still a clusterfuck. yeh, they might pick up some seats next election due to obama backlash, but the future is not bright unless they choose a different course.
