Feaux News isn't doing so hot in the aftermath of the Obama tsunami. A year from now Fox will need a bail out or they will have radically changed their daily lineup.

Haha! Refreshing to see a guy take an energetic stand for the average american worker getting screwed in the auto industry (GM's announcing cutbacks on the workforce, shutting factories, limiting it's brand line-up... all while receiving billions in "bailout money").

Fox News anchor Greg Jarrett keeps trying to frantically steer the conversation away from this mayor showing compassion for the U.S. auto worker. Jarrett's theme for the interview is "Have the unions given up enough? has the american auto worker given up enough?"

Fox News, ever the republican party shill, never chooses to place blame on corporations, on million-dollar bonus-taking CEOs (who take bonuses as their company declares bankruptcy!), on Wall Street, on any higher-ups. Fox News chooses to attack the "little people", the modestly salaried everyday workers.

Anyway. Nice to see Fox News get smacked-down by this mayor.

UAW benefits are excessive (NOT as extremely as people like to think) and unsustainable.

But as a native Michigander I am absolutely incesnsed about the treatment the auto companies, vital pieces of our manufacturing base, are receiving in the media and especially Washington. He is absolutely correct about the double standard regarding Wall Street. Bank holding companies have received hundreds of billions of dollars. Bailouts. Less than a fifth of that has actually been injected into the credit system. The auto companies look to receive less than a tenth of that in loans and become the target of universal ire. They have been brought to their knees by Wall Street, and the policy to ease credit never required that the funds be used for their intended purpose. So they have to go to the Fed. And the reps decide that since they were too lax once they'll look like they care by taking it out on the Big Three.

Michigan, already the state with the highest unemployment and greatest loss of income, is really in a dire state. If one of those companies goes under the economic situation there will become absolutely nightmarish and could bring the rest of the country into a very deep recession. I'm RARELY in favor of Keynesian fiscal policy, but I feel very strongly that this is absolutely necessary to keep this country afloat, not to mention the near entirety of my home state.

I agree. I hate bailouts, but after the banker bailouts, who have provided us with nothing but mounds of paper and empty numbers, when the Big three ask for money, suddenly there is an outcry. What gives?

The incredible smarminess and snark of the news anchor is emblematic of the kind of hubris that will bring down Fox news: they're essentially unwatchable.

What I love about Fox and its viewers is the gulf between what appears on Fox News and what appears on Fox.

The programming on Fox has a clear-cut liberal bent, while Fox News panders incessantly to the right wing base, and is lauded by that base for doing so.

Here's a company making money off both sides. Brilliant.

Well if the big 3 wanted to compete maybe they would have thought of making a better product?

I will always pick quality first
