It is well known that Microsoft has been working with the N.S.A for years. Allowing the N.S.A. to put a back door in a computer running Windows. Which means everything you do, the government is watching you. They also have access to all your private information. Everything. Every email, post, browsing history e.c.t. They also have the power too shut your computer down in a heartbeat. This has been going on for years. However it is in the news again as it is even worse in Windows 7. Every move you make, Big Brother is watching you. So be aware and stay safe.

Whatever the government wants to know about you they can find out, legally or otherwise.

Hooray for Snow Leopard!
Even though technically both Apple & PC suck...

And by ''Apple sucks '' i know you meant to say that ''there's nothing better than Apple'',right?

Though I dislike the concept of covert surveillance on principle, I honestly have nothing to hide, so the fact that the NSA has me, along with hundreds of millions of other Americans on their radar screen, means little to me and how I conduct my life. I always wonder how they can maintain the sheer manpower involved in interpreting my online ramblings and their impact on national security.

And a question for the legal scholars out there: isn't this at least somewhat at odds with the 4th Amendment?
[SIZE=+1]The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. My intention was to inform people. Not to scare anyone. This was first discovered in 1999. Special access codes prepared by the N.S.A. were secretly built into Windows. They have been in every Windows O.S. since. The N.S.A. controls how Windows is used. Not Microsoft. A set of drivers and keys. Rumor has it the N.S.A. designed Windows 7 not Microsoft. Apple is just as bad. They have been selling and sharing users location information for years. They are selling overpriced garbage that is simply dangerous. You can hack a I Phone in under 2 minutes. I Tunes has been hacked several times costing hundreds of users, their credit card information and thousands of dollars. I've posted links to the Apple info (on here) several times. I won't post them again. I have been running Ubuntu (Linux) on all my computers for a long time now. It can do anything Windows or a Mac can do and in most cases can do it better. I use Linux to fix computers running Windows. Bbucko makes a very good point regarding the 4th amendment. Sadly, i don't think it exists anymore. Here is a link to the article regarding how the N.S.A took control of Microsoft from 1999.

you will all be happy to know that in the middle of massive government cuts the UK government just voted an extra £500 million a year to deal with cyber terrorism. I translate that as meaning they want to watch too. So don't fret. The chinese, british, russians and everyone else are checking your details too.

Should I switch to Linux?

Should I switch to Linux?
That is entirely up to you. Ubuntu is free. You can download it and burn it too disc and it's yours. Put the disc in and reboot. You can run it live without installing it. Running it live will enable you to surf the web and get a feel for the operating system itself. It wont change anything on your computer in the live mode. It bypasses Windows. Keep in mind running it live, it will be slower and the graphics won't be as sharp. Installed it is very fast and the graphics are amazing. The software center has over a thousand free programs you can install. Ubuntu is one of many free Linux operating systems developed by people from around the world in the open source community. The support from the community is great. Take your time. Do some reading and learning. Run it live and get a feel for the operating system itself. It took me some time. However after getting hit with a dns changer virus in Vista, that was it. It disabled every virus program i had. I found a program called Dr. Web Cure it from Russia. It found a rootkit in the registry and got rid of it. However, by that time i had enough. I installed Ubuntu and deleted Vista. No more viruses. It's much more stable than Windows. My computer hasn't crashed once since installing it and that was a long time ago. Ubuntu boots on my computer in 15 seconds. Check out their website. If you have any questions send me a pm. I will help you. This video is very helpful. Ubuntu is very easy to install.
How to install Ubuntu in 5 minutes.

Disconnect from the internet. Problem solved you shit bags.

Or you know, install a firewall. Or check your router logs. Do you see any unexpected traffic? Is traffic being routed to any unexpected IP addresses?

No. It isn't. I question the veracity of a youtube video.

For example if you run the computer in Safe Mode with Networking there will be no internet traffic to an external/American IP.

This is proof that there is no backdoor and that no one is being spied on because in order for people to be spied on information has to be exchanged. That information has to be exchanged through a network (the internet).

Such an exchange is not occurring and I have seen no proof of it. If this was so widespread we would see actual documentary evidence and not a bullshit video on youtube.

There is a wealth of information on this topic. Do some reading. This was first discovered in the 1990's. Here once again is a link to the article. There are many more articles to be found just by doing a search. Read the article.

TP: How NSA access was built into Windows

Basically:

No one really knows what the NSA Key is used for (if anything)
The subject of this thread is a conspiracy theory

If you are so concerned, you can remove or subvert the NSA Key. Therefore this is not an issue unless you make it up to be one.

This is no conspiracy. This is reality. It is 3 keys and some drivers. It is the third key that has no legitimate purpose other than spying. The keys and drivers are in every Windows operating system except Windows 95 to the present Windows 7. The driver AVAPI.DLL ( installed by the NSA) works closely with Internet Explorer. However, it will only run cryptographic functions the NSA allows Microsoft to export. The driver also runs special programs controlled by the NSA. Some of which have yet to be determined their purpose. Now after getting a good look at Windows 7 it has NSA keys and drivers in it. More so than any other Windows operating system. Yes the keys can be removed. However not everyone has the ability to do so. I am not concerned for me. I do not run Windows. I am concerned for others. My intention was just to inform people. I have don't that. I stand behind my opinion and i respect yours.

Windows 7 being the most secure version of Microsoft's operating system yet, but you might not be aware that this is the result of a partnership with the National Security Agency.

number 1

hi i have not posted on here before but interested in this whole discussion and very interesting set of arguments in this group (page).

2nd they can filter traffic from the isp end (even on mobile and wifi connections)

3. the proof is obvious to test this phery i attempted a few random searches and found all nodes relating to half of the n.a.s.a (gov projects)

the interesting thing although i did not get in or even probly even the half way mark i did however discover when trying or attempting curtain responses are blanked out this is partly as im not in usa but even for usa users im sure responses are fore sure monitored and things blanked out to prevent brute force attacks.

it is therefore sutable to say things can be monitored without your knowing and responses from commands will not always bring up all that is really happeneing there are so many ports out there and virtual ports aswel the bridge between these ports can be intersepted though isp end and therefore both these meathods become simple in respect to all this ubuntu and linux might not prevent all data from being monitored at all especially on using port 80 (http) instead of https (port 443)

even then i canot garantee this is 100% safe.

one more thing 13 root servers in the world if 1 of these is or could be monitored explicitly or filtered in any way for curtain traffic this would be enoght to comprimise multiple other root servers this is more interesting than security itself trying to prevent expliots and one thing we all know is best form of defense is sometimes attack lol :D

heres a map of root servers (usa has the most compared to others)

http://www.icann.org/en/maps/root-servers.htm

PEACE OUT AND RESPONSES are welcome.
