lol, he was not a police officer from NYPD, he was employed by Sheriff's office, which is a division of Department of Finance in NYC. Depends on where you live, in some parts of the country especially those in rural areas or small towns, the sheriff's office and deputies have a broad authority, preventing and investigating crimes, or enforcing the law. But in NYC, a deputy is mainly a civilian duty with focus on loss prevention, help collecting payments and liens, or help landlords to evict...And I believe he has left the sheriff's office a while back.
