I also believe that the chatroom is not even a good example for misogynous behavior.

For example, in the chatroom you can whisper messages to anyone and no one else in the chatroom can see them. I've gotten my fair share of shitty messages in the background and i dont bother to respond to them by whispering back. I will thoroughly humiliate an asshole for his commentary.

Back when i decided not to cam anymore in the chatroom and change my name to Praying_Mantis, a million comments flew at me not realizing who i was or why i decided to stop camming at that point.

I got told to die, go to hell, eat shit and die, hope my cunt rots off, etc. When i said politely multiple times to the same guy- I'm not camming with you or I'm not interested in watching you cam.

I have only had a handful of people jump down my throat for defending myself in the chatroom after some guy has been sending me horrible messages. FlameBoy (Moderator) has had to throw several of them out of the chatroom or ban then because of the public comments they were making for no other reason than that.

The chatroom has very few females and a lot of horny guys, when a guy is horny and gets his feelings or ego hurt he gets even more nasty than he would be otherwise. But there are plenty of guys camming who don't beg for viewers or insist on women watching them at all or even ask to see others in the chatroom. There are far more better behaved men in there than get the credit.

It's the assholes who can hear you talking about how you had to put your dog to sleep today and how sad you are because your Grandma died or something and they are going "Yo, show me that pussy baby, come on" and you are telling them NO and they just can't see that you actually have other things on your mind besides their horniness.

One guy i haven't seen in ages in the chatroom said alteast 3 or 4 times for me to hurry up and get naked on cam because he needs to get off before he goes to work. I told him i didn't plan on getting naked on cam until maybe this evening, the poor guy just couldn't fathom jacking off without live material to the point of interrupting my serious conversation multiple times to beg me to please get him off the way he wanted to.

I feel the same way, Hilaire. I've noticed that most guys on this site are well aware of how to treat a female because they might get banned if they don't behave themselves. But the hatred is just below the surface and comes out in strange ways. I've always found it an amazing dichotomy that guys can lust after women so intensely but in the same moment can hate us so much too. Misogyny is all pervasive and has influenced almost every modern culture, women deal with misogyny on a minute by minute basis in the way it has shaped and formed the way they live. Do you think Misandry has had a similar effect on the lives of most men?

And manners aren't necessarily anything to do with misogyny. After all a person may be perfectly courteous to someone while still despising them. It's even possible to express misogyny in terms which seem perfectly innocuous.

I'm extremely glad you've enjoyed this thread, it's been very informative and useful so far, I'm extremely glad that many female members have contributed to it, not least among them you :smile:. before I started the thread I did a relatively thorough search for the terms Misogyny, Misogynist etc. and I didn't really find much. I was surprised because with threads like PMsing and others I kinda thought that male member's attitudes towards female members were likely to have been hashed out ad nauseum by now.

I think Guy-Jin thought I was being deliberately obtuse or argumentative with him or misreading him completely, but actually I think it's worth mentioning and discussing terms like Misandry in this context in the same way that in a discussion about Homophobia one should address terms like Heterophobia, because both terms are examples of ideas and arguments which are used to try to silence debate about prejudice and inequality.

In both cases those who use them ( and Guy-Jin is not one of them I hasten to add) use these terms to try to paint Feminists and Gay rights advocates as bigoted and prejudiced themselves implying that to advocate that women and gay people should be treated and more importantly thought of as equals and with full cognizance of their innate humanity are somehow deliberately trying to attack straight people or men or society or god or whatever, and that the aims of Feminism and Gay rights activism are somehow malign.

Even if these terms aren't used in this way they are often used as a method of trying to draw focus away from the issues Feminists and Gay rights activists may be trying to address by saying that suffering and persecution are universal, as though it were impossible that anyone could be made to suffer more than anyone else, and that to suggest otherwise is somehow selfish or excessively partial, asking for unfair special treatment.
