As mentioned before a guy going in for a vasectomy the DR. in question rarely if ever "requires" that guys "wife" to "sign off on it" before they will do it.

And while there may be some Dr.s who will to some degree "counsel" a guy who has had no kids against having it done using this same "you might meet some women who wants kids" argument but few if any will flat out refuse citing "you have never had kids" as a reason if not sole reason.

In a FEW cases maybe the Dr. will agree to do it if the guy makes X number of deposits in some "sperm bank" of course the day after procedure the guy could call that sperm bank and tell them to dispose of it and most Dr.s probably know that so they make no such "requirement".

Also the guy could just "lie" and say he fathered X number and does not want to make any more and how would that DR. really know ?

You said that women should wait until they're married before getting tubal ligation so that their future husband has an opportunity to approve the procedure or not. It wasn't a hard argument to follow, just a sexist one.

I was reading this and was gonna reply something like "Man, if I ever forget, please remind me not to Piss off Alteredego" and I was gonna lighten that up with a meme about being nuked from orbit.

So if you go to google and do an image search on "nuke orbit meme", there is a line from Aliens which gets quoted (it's the one which kinda originated the meme). "I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."

Here's the thing... in about half the meme pictures, the quote is attributed to Corporal Hicks (as opposed to Ellen Ripley). Now Hicks does speak those words in the movie, but he himself is intentionally quoting Ripley verbatim. Ripley floats the suggestion along with her reasoning and Burke's immediate response is the sexist tack that men so often take when fielding ideas from women... he accuses her of being emotional. When it's pointed out later in the same discussion that Hicks is the one with the authority to make the decision, he deliberately says the exact same words she said not simply because he agrees with her course of action, but to emphasize his belief that Ripley is not just the most practical crew member, but one deserving of a lot more respect than Burke was giving her.

And that brings me back to those meme pictures. About half the people who recollect that scene and are trying to make a badass quote choose to quote Hicks, but Hicks was quoting Ripley. When we talk about women's voices and the weight they carry, it's just an example where so many people out there can hear the exact same thing from a woman and a man, but they don't give it any credit until the man says it. Which is why we're here in a thread talking with Soren about waiting until a man can give his input over what happens with a woman's own body.
