I remember the moment like it was yesterday. We were watching the speech on t.v. We had no other choices back in those days. We only received one station.
My brother muttered "someone is going to kill that n________"! Seconds later King was shot.
My sister lived in Memphis. When we called to check on her she said the police had issued orders for everyone to get off the streets and go home. If you were in your house you should load your guns and shoot to kill anyone who tried to break in.

I was inside my father's testicles.

(I believe I was produced by the right nut. I hear that children who are good at science and math come from there)

A glimmer in my parent's eyes. However, anyone with common sense knows that he was killed by the US intelligence agency.

i was at home watching tv. i was 15. it hit me like a bomb. i knew there would be riots in the LA area, near to where i lived. i was right. while the riots didnt help improve our nation, they did get the attention of the white majority in the US that we needed to admit that we were a seriously racist, violent nation. and that was a healthy deveiopment.

In college, in Chicago, working in the physics lab scanning subatomic particle interaction films. We had the radio on. Like MLK, I knew that such a thing was very likely, but it was still a shock. Bobby Kennedy's speech that night was wonderful. He had two months to live.

So the black people riot, and the whites are the racist, violent ones?
