At lot of the newer members haven't seen the site at it's best and really have no clue as to what any of us are about. I can see where people who just joined recently would think Lex is a tyrant or that I'm a self-centered bitch, I really can. Rather than doing ANYTHING of value, most of the older members have been struggling just to keep up with the bs on the site, and hold our community of friends together. It ain't been easy.
...

"06 Bonnie and Clyde"

(Jay-Z as played by Lex): All I need in this world of sin
Is me and my girlfriend (me and my girlfriend)
(Beyonce as played by MZ): Down to ride to the very end
It's me and my boyfriend (me and my boyfriend)

Seriously--I agree wholeheartedly with that Zora has said here.
It is not requisite that anyone either like or respect me, while I appreciate those who choose to in any event).

It is important to me, however, that the site not be mired and bogged with threads about who likes/dislikes who, for what, and why.

Lex--ready to move on.

Please keep in mind that "moderator" and "mediator" do not refer to the same function.
WOW! Glad someone pointed this out. I really like Bronx's posts about her role as the moderator of her church. Therre is a difference between a President or Chairperson and a Moderator. In genral, a modreator has less power.

Having said that, moderators on a board like this obviously function different than moderators in a live "real time" meeting.

I have tried to not be a different person as a moderator than I was as a member.

It was mentioned about the Jacinto thread. Yes, I also brought what Double MeatWhopper has to say about that situation. to the board. I did not print everything he said. There were a few statements that I deleted that I thought were inflamatory to some of the members. The reason I did that was that I felt you the members should know what he had to say about it. Not to agree with it. I did not think I had a right to deny those who wanted to read his statement on it from getting to read it. And after everyone had a chance to read and comment, I closed the thread. I didn't know a way to just send it to the persons who wanted to read it. And if 'Jacinto/DoubleMeatWhopper" asked to come back as a member today, I would tell him no. He is banned from this site. If I had it to do over again, I think I would do the same thing except leave out my comments on it.

I do try to do my job and also be a member. Just remember we are volunteers selected by the owner of this site and serve at his pleasure. At anytime, Rob+_E could decide that one or all of us were relieved of our duties. This is a privately owned site. Rob_E is the owner. If this were a building and Rob really wanted to paint it shit brown, there really isn't much any of us could do or say about it. We could complain and tell why that is a horrible color. I doubt that would change the color of the paint as it it being applied to the walls of the "building."

They may be strictly MY expectations.
I would expect the moderators to keep this place running smoothly.

Yes, we all know that the job of moderator is voluntary. But, the position still comes with certain expectations of common decency of a higher level than is expected from members who are not in authority.

I think it's wrong to start a derogatory post with, "this is from Joe the member, not Joe the moderator" as a license to slander other members.

I think that it's wrong for moderators to plaster a big red letter "B" on me (as a reminder to anyone who doesn't already know that i was BANNED from this site a long time ago) everytime they respond to my posts. Supporting your side of the argument is infinitely more constructive than attacking me personally.

Webster, I can only say this- wishin' ain't gettin'. I personally am not going to hold myself to a higher standard than anyone else. It's right in the terms of service that EVERYONE here is equal, so that's the way it is, period. You are free not to like it, but your opinion won't change my behavior. I'm not saying this to be controversial, but to make abundantly clear that any expectations anyone may have about what this job entails should be accurate. We are members, just like everyone else. If people don't go out of their way to be difficult, we shouldn't have to do much of anything.

Dear MZ,

Ironic that you would reply, since it is already a part of your nature to practice the "higher standard" pretty much all the time when dealing with people.

I have no problem with about 9/10s of the moderators. That's not too bad...........
