It seems like a fair number of guys feel awkward in situations in which it is generally considered appropriate to be naked. Locker rooms are one example. However, in my life there have been dorm showers, pool parties, skinny dipping at the beach at night, nude beaches during the day, and changing rooms at river raft rental centers, to name only a few.
The question for the modest guys is: Honestly, would you like to be comfortable in such situations and just strip without any anxiety?

Recently I was at Spa Castle in NY when I walked in the locker, there were men walking around nude like it was no big deal. While I found it strange that a couple of guys walked around nude the entire I was in there, It didn't bother me. I didn't stare, just went about my business. I have no problem changing in front of other guys so long as they are respectful and keep their distance.

Regarding discomfort. The first time I had to be naked around others was something I fretted about from the moment I learned it had to happen. When it did happen, I was then embarrassed because I was clearly larger than others, and felt like a freak. Yes, I was totally naive, but until I learned how things are, it was a rather big source of anxiety.

I'm a nudist now, have been for many years. The liberation and acceptance of and from others is quite nice. Not a bad way to live when and where I have the opportunities to do so.

For anyone who is anxious about nude situations and wants to overcome this, I strongly recommend a visit to a local nudist resort/campground/club. Nudists accept everyone as they are...genital size, body size and state,...none of that matters, unlike gym locker rooms where it's a virtual if not literal dick-measuring contest.

No need to be embarrassed. I'm a gym regular and lots of the guys in the locker room look like you in terms of body and dicks. It's more the norm than not.

This is something that has changed as I got older, i.e. I was more modest as a teenager than I am now. With situational appropriate nudity I think it is primarily about confidence and how much you care about what others will think and less about whether you have a good body or any particular size or style of cock.

So, as I said, getting older helps. There does seem to be a natural trend as we get older to become less concerned with managing other people's impressions of us. Everyone probably has an anecdote of the grumpy old sod who "speaks his mind" and consequently causes offence at social gatherings - it is all part of the same process.

Being married also helps, probably even just being in a relationship. Once someone else is sufficiently into you to be in a relationship with you that is a definitely confidence boost and that applies both generally and sexually. It means you can take the view that it doesn't matter if the guy next to you in the gym showers is impressed or otherwise because his opinion is insignificant compared to that of your wife/partner.

That leads on to a general thing about how much weight to give to the opinions of others and you need to ask yourself whether the person concerned is qualified to comment and whether they have any influence over your life. If neither, then why care?
