Ok these actions of the current administration do not surprise me in the least. At this point I am just waiting for Bush to do what he really wants to do: Suspend the constitution, dissolve congress and declare himself supreme leader.
Right on schedule, aren't we, jeffery? Right now, my poor Constitution has so many holes ripped and torn into it, it is barely recognizable. It really won't take much more raping for it to just fall into little tattered confetti.

I wonder if people actually realise how little it would take. Six years ago, I would have never imagined we'd be this far along, this quickly. One thing that I will never say about bush is that he didn't get anything done. That fucker's administration has been busy.

Bwahaha, Madame! Sometimes I wonder if George and Alberto, with their fabulous reading skills, didn't somehow confuse "Constitution" with "Charmin." Either way, they continue to wipe their ignorant asses with the bill of rights...

Julianna watched the last state of the union address with me and she actually dropped her jaw at some of the shit bush was saying. I was glad she understood what was happening, because I know most people don't really bother to notice things like constitutional infringement. She tells me most of her friends her own age have absolutely no idea of the importance of these events, because they've never read the Constitution or Bill of Rights.

NIC posted somewhere that he hadn't voted, and my knee jerk reaction is to be aghast and say "oh my!", but the truth is, there actually is very little benefit in the individual vote in our current climate. The system is broken, and we need to address THAT before the individual vote will mean much anymore. It's meaning less and less every year.

In our system the individual vote has never meant much. I am upset when people proudly state that they do not vote; We invaded a country to try to give the people the right to vote, least we can do is excercise it ourselves. The point of voting is not to change the system' it is simply to ensure that there are enough checks and balances in the system for it to not be held hostage by one group of people (like it happened over the last 6 years)..

I remember reading somewhere that low level Republican party operatives tried to make public suggestions that the 2004 presidential election be delayed because we were at war and somehow the terrorists would take advantage of the political uncertainity that comes with an election. I fully expect some more voices to be raised soon suggesting this kind of autocratic behavior by the republicans soon.

Or to ensure that the Diebold Corporation profits continue to go up...

Terrorists, aided by cronies on the Supreme Court, did take advantage of the delays and uncertainty during the re-count debacle in Florida in 2000.
