If they want a uniform way of dressing then they should have a uniform otherwise they are discriminating against particular fashion.
Uniform is a good idea, nit-picking over people's fashion sense is derogatory, private or not.

As for the Catholic college, it is entitled to put up as many catholic symbols as it likes, the same is true of any religious school. Personally i believe all schools and colleges should be neutral so as not to influence its students.

Good thing you're not an American or a student at Morehouse College then, isn't it. Many of our private colleges and universities have rules which I am sure you would find abhorrent or at the very least distasteful.

I went to a private college and ALL colleges in the United States, with the exception of Hillsdale and Grove City Colleges are direct and/or indirect recipients of federal funding and are held responsible for violating what could be construed as an infringement on civil liberties. In the case of "cross dressing," just because Morehouse is an all-male college, it does not m ean that someone who is biologically male must express his gender in a traditionally male way. A student who cross-dresses could challenge this and it would be a potential lawsuit that could go all the way to the supreme court. BTW Morehouse used to be all black but now accepts students of all races. It happens to be historically black and still has a student body that is something like 97% black.

Students at any College are actually preparing for a future life that just may include obtaining viable employment.

That stated, it is a good practice to always look your best.

Admittedly I wore a uniform most of my adult life. I was in uniform for my entire Navy Career and I wore a company provided uniform while I worked in a factory.

That stated, I enjoy looking presentable where ever I go. I even dress appropriately when I mow the lawns and take care of the gardens surrounding my home.

Not that simple. Colleges are not designed to produce a "Burning Man" no-rules environment.

All liberties are sustained by group commitments: I agree not to kill you if you agree not to kill me.

College communities admit groups of people (not just individuals) on conditions, one of which is that the group agrees to study together. Medieval academics wore guild gowns to signal family membership and pride in their teams. Sounds like the alphas at Morehouse are deciding how to express themselves as a group through academic dress. No surprises there.

My recommendation is to restore medieval guild gowns at Moorehouse, and let students run around naked underneath them if they want to. That would be fun. It would make it much easier to jerk off and flash during boring lectures, or get the quick relief during breaks. The free balling would be fantastic.

Yes, it does; but rarely are these people successful business professionals of the kind the school has produced in the past. Morehouse has a reputation for producing intelligent, powerful, and respected leaders. They are not in business to produce ebonics speaking, hip-hop/rap musicians, or Ru Pauls.

It's an all male school, always has been. The lesbian argument is irrelevant. Uh huh, and how many straight men actually shop for blouses because the shirts in the mens department are to plain or dull for them?:confused:
Is it cross dressing if the person is in the process of gender change? (Or will transgendered people also be denied education there, under the guise of 'preparing students for the real world'?) How about a guy who wears some jewelry (rings, necklace, chains, bracelets)? Or are they refering to the outfits Madonna used to wear with those big dangly crosses? Yeah, that must be what they meant.
 I'm sure a modest amount of jewelry is allowed. They probably mean to avoid the 'bling' associated with the music industry that The Pope denounced a while back.

Perhaps it's a cultural thing; but I would think a black transgendered student wouldn't even apply to Morehouse. Seriously though, there are schools that are much more liberal to permissive and accepting in their social atmosphere. Morehouse College is not one of those places. It never has been.
Yep. I completely agree. I used to go there and the ultraconservative social structure and atmosphere is the main reason I left. I'm not gay or transgendered or a cross-dresser or ghetto or any of those things but I still felt I couldn't be myself. If you dont fit the norm at Morehouse and it's sister school Spelman (the women's version of Morehouse) you're for the most part looked down upon. And most guys I know that go to Morehouse is a douchebag. The atmosphere there reinforces it really. It's an elitist black school distancing itself from the stereotypes but reinforces another stereotype and the main reason why Black people as a whole stay down. Self-hatred and Self-Discrimination. There are HBCUs that are more liberal so they arent all like that but Morehouse unless you have a certain personality type you shouldn't go there at all. There are plenty of gay guys there but not like drag queen types.
