This morning I woke up when the alarm went off, and of course I had my normal morning wood. I was thinking about it on the way to work. To the best of my memory I was having dreams about a trip I went on with my Harley. Didn't have one thing to do with anything sexual. So why would I wake up with "morning wood" when I'm dreaming about anything but sex? Any ideas why this occurs? Thanks for your comments and input.

Read all about it!
Read all about it!
This is nocturnal penile tumescence, a very normal and healthy thing, and here is what Wikipedia has to say about it.

Here's a quote:

Colloquial naming and anecdotal evidence supporting the possibility that a full bladder can stimulate an erection has existed for some time and is characterised as a 'reflex erection'. The nerves that control a man’s ability to have a reflex erection are located in the sacral nerves (S2-S4) of the spinal cord. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nocturnal_penile_tumescence#cite_note-2 A full bladder is known to mildly stimulate nerves in the same region. This mild stimulus which during the day is normally suppressed in adult males by competing stimuli and other distractions, could during sleep with the absence of such factors instigate a reflex erection.
The possibility of a full bladder causing an erection, especially during sleep, is perhaps further supported by the beneficial physiological effect of an erection inhibiting urination, thereby helping to avoid nocturnal enuresis.

Thanks. That sure does put a new light on the subject. I would have never come up with that! I just thought it was funny especially when no sexual activity was taking place in my dreams. Thanks again.

You might not be thinking about sex, but your penis is.
I never remember my dreams, but I would say about 5 out of the 7 days of the week, I wake up with crazy morning wood, to the point that it's oftentimes uncomfortable.

Yup everything Rubi said is correct. It is one way od deciding if you have ED erectile disfunction. you start to become concerned if you don't wake up with a morning wood on a regualr bases.

Technically, because guy's hormones are raging in the morning. That's why we get morning wood anyway. You don't have to have a sexual dream to get wood.

It has nothing to do with dreams, hormones - it is the pressure a full bladder puts on the erectile muscle

That doesn't even make sense. The erectile muscle isn't a "muscle", it's tissue, number 1. Number 2, you get wood when the two caverns in your penis fills with blood. Hormones cause your heart to pump more blood into your penis which gives you wood. It's also associated with rapid eye movement sleep. Not much in known about it but IS caused by REM sleep and hormones as well as other factors, but NOT some cockamamie theory about "bladder pressure". That's a commonly believed myth.:cool:

The "full bladder" theory is discounted in that men have from 3-5 erections during the night and don't have a full bladder until morning. What Wiki fails to mention is that a man's testosterone level is at its highest point during the night and frequent nighttime erections is nature's way of keeping your cock in shape for when you really need to use it! This also explains why, as a man ages and has to get up to urinate frequently during the night he has less frequent nighttime erections. Many older men don't have erections at night at all. If not, they should have their testosterone level checked. It is most likely quite low or is stopped by high estrogen (that men have too!).

I fell asleep on the couch the other night and when I do, I'm always on my back. It was warm so I was wearing only my briefs. I woke up on my back as usual with a morning wood waving about which lasted about 45mins cuz I was too sleepy to get up and whiz (which ALWAYS takes care of it).

Sorta glad I didn't have company though they might have enjoyed it! ;-)
