72 visitors already? and all of them were straight?

come on guys ... it's just a normal question and all gay people from the States can give an answer ....

I'd really like to know it. I live in Germany, I have no idea about US gay sites ... I only know that gayromeo - the most famous site in germany - has just a few users from the US ...

Not all gay people can answer it. I've never done online dating so I wouldn't know.

Also, are you talking about a dating site or a hookup site because they're very different (at least here they are). Sites like Manhunt aren't conducive to dating but I know a lot of people use it to find random hookups.

I was one of those viewers who isn't straight, but as was kind of said, it was the "dating" aspect that I didn't feel I had a good answer to.

As far as sites, it depends on your interests, but adam4adam.com, manhunt.com, and silverdaddies.com are ones that I have seen mentioned the most. Although, again it was more of a hookup reference than a sincere dating site.

I think it just depends on the individual and chance. Hell, I met my guy here :biggrin1:

hmmm .... e.g. gayromeo is a website where you can try to find everything .... friends, relationships etc. ... but most dudes their are looking for sex.

all members have a profile with details about their person, their body, their hair/eye colour and stuff like that ...

don't know if the US have something similar !?

what do you guys think is the most popular site for whatever .... where are the most registered users?

I guess I would somewhat agree with MX. It would depend on where you are at in the country. More urban areas obviously will have a better turnout. Rural areas, not so much.

Adam4Adam and Manhunt tend to be more of the cruisy spots to hook up.

Gay.com is dead. It has a few folks that are decent to talk to..but most don't chat.
They just sit in the room and troll around.

    Men4Sexnow was another one.

Unfortunately I have not had much luck on any of them.

Chemistry.com is supposed to have a decent turnout too. I know of one success story.

FYI, if a "dating" site has an option to put dick size, it's more likely it's used to hook up.

All the non-hookup gay sites I've been on seem to die off. OKCupid isn't totally gay oriented, but is decent in that it lets you set it up to only see and be seen by those seeking gay dates (and actually has dating in mind). I've met a few good guys on OKCupid, but I met my bf from a4a...

Craigslist is dangerous. Too many fake people, and chance of rape/murder.

There's been too many cases of crime with Craigslist.

Well, in my own experience as a gay man in NY, I was going to say that 'gay' and 'dating' dont go well together.. 'hooking up', yes, and for that Manhunt and Adam4Adam seem to be the best. We do date, though, in small proportions, I think.

Around 10 years ago, Gay.com was the primary gay website in the USA. From an American's perspective, it seemed that Gaydar.uk was the primary gay website in Europe and Australia. There was very little overlap. Gay.com then changed their format around 2008, and it immediately began to lose users and it quickly collapsed. As Rik said, very few people hold accounts there anymore.

What replaced Gay.com in the USA depends where you live. If you are in a city where lots of gay folks are all around you, Grindr is helpful. I've had friends who sit in restaurants and pick out the Grindr users around them. They also say there is a lot of attitude on Grindr, in fact there is a whole website dedicated to the douchebags of Grindr. If you are in a small town or rural area, Grindr doesn't work as well. In those places, Manhunt was popular until the past year or so. They began to charge to see larger pictures on profiles and people in my area have all started using Adam4adam. Generally speaking, dating websites in my area focus primarily on hooking up for sex, and secondarily on finding someone to share the other side of your pillow for the next 20 years. Most gay guys here already have a circle of friends and aren't interested in finding new ones online.

This site has a new level of shitty.

Just an FYI to add to my "Pay Site" comment.

I registered just to see all of what was what, only to find out later that you have to pay to see profiles.

Worse - you can't delete your profile. It's there forever.
Be very cautious with this site, as it appears you don't have control over your stuff once its been uploaded.

Luckily I didnt fill out the profile. You Can't hide the profile yourself.
Clicking on the options only takes you to the credit card pay page.
    Here's a snippet from their FAQ: manplay.com

    "Can I delete a profile?
No. Once a profile has been entered into the system it is there permanently. You can however, hide your profile if you wish. "
