I don't see very many newer movies recently, most of them don't appeal to me...one movie I DO love though, is Labyrinth! My sister, her friend, and me used to watch it almost every day! It's too funny! I did see the new exorcist...it was an absolute joke and didn't even scare me, just make me nauseous. I give it * for the effort.

Just saw Kung Fu Hustle this weekend. Interesting movie. Not sure what to think about it as a whole but most of it was fairly entertaining. Some broad slapstick comedy, for sure and it had quite a large budget for some of the special effects they pulled off!

I was trying to "figure out" if the guy who found his chi at the end was supposed to represent or supposed to be Bruce Lee or not... I did however "get" several of the in-jokes within the movie, including the references to some other Kung-Fu movies, Spider-Man, The Shining, The Matrix 1 & 2, (missed the one about The Untouchables and Shaolin Soccer though),

Heck, I had to go to IMDB to get all the symbolism in HERO.

I shook Ray's hand once after a performance on Greenville Ave. in Dallas. I was fairly overcome with emotion and could only blurt, "Thank you." The genius' heartfelt response, "You're welcome son." I'm tearing up.

movies for me -

most fun - Hair
most intense - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
most fun and intense - Cool Hand Luke

btw - just saw Sin City. Very trippy. Not sure what else to say about it.

Dredging this topic up from the depths!

What's the last movie you saw that surprised you in a good way? One you expected to be so-so (or even dislike) but that turned out OK?

I ended up enjoying Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow more than I'd anticipated. Other than being visually interesting, it was a fun lark. Even loved the last line in the film.

Anyone else have one?

Steve, I can't think of one right off, but I really hope Episode III falls into that category.
