^ I have not seen any of those movies! I'm having a hard time thinking of a sequel that I actually liked. I have seen a couple that were so bad I liked them for pure guilty pleasure of it badness!

AHH, well if you have seen REC then you might really like REC 2. both spanish horrors. American remake called Quarantine did the first film some decent justice but the spanish original is better.

Night at the Museum 2 is wicked.

And Death Note 2 also. Japanese fantasy. Awesome films if you don't mind subtitles.

A Nightmare on Elm Street is an excellent classic horror flick. None of the many sequels were worth the celluloid they were printed on.

Similarly, I thought The Butterfly Effect was a good thriller, but the sequel was pretty much a turd, naked Erica Durance notwithstanding.

RoboCop is another example of a good movie with really shitty sequels...which calls to mind Screamers, another decent sci-fi flick starring Peter Weller that someone foolishly greenlighted a shitty sequel to.

The last two Home Alone movies were horrible. The last few Beethovens were awful too. The first and third House Party movies were good. The second and fourth not so good, especially the fourth. All the Friday movies were good, if you're into those kinds of movies like I am.

I've read recently that the long talked about third movie in the Meet the Parents franchise is finally coming out this year with all the main characters from the sequel, Meet the Fockers, reprising their roles. It's to be called "Little Fockers" and Greg and Pam now have 5-year-old twins. I hope it will be good. I liked the first two movies.

The Neverending Story - one of my all-time favorite movies.
The Neverending Story 2 - sucked!

I think there was a third one, but I didn't bother with it after the second one. Still love the first one, though.

I'm not surprised by all the other suggestions made so far, but these i am.

Home Alone is my favorite xmas movie and undeniably better than the latter two.
Home Alone 2 was'nt THAT bad tho, i still enjoyed it.

Home Alone 3 was just different. A different cast completely, it was a stand-alone thing and would have worked better out of the Home Alone titles but still a good little movie.

Karate Kid III and The Next Karate Kid(with a then unknown Hillary Swank) were sequels that should have been touched. Let me tell you why:

Karate Kid III: Featuring a puffy looking Ralph Macchio(who was 28 years old then) and a recylcled story that was a rinse & repeat procedure. Nothing was original. Danny did not evolved as a grown character, but really was a bigger weakling than in the previous two installments. It was just a rehash and a unnecessary movie to begin with. It's one of those movies that are so bad, they are just that. Forgetable.

The Next Karate Kid: The final nail in the coffin. I mean, I am not against women doing karate moves. There were some women in history that were doing karate in the 60s and 70s. But Hillary's acting was just bad. Emotions just went from anger to another form of anger. It was as if the director said to Swank, "Be mad.....but if there is a victory, be very mad. Mad on every level you can think of." I think we can forgive Swank for appearing in this flop of a mess...but still....it was nothing to write home about...even in 1994.

The list of movies that qualify under these kind of guidelines is staggering:

The "Dukes of Hazard" movies were disgusting
Remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" was unwatchable
Remake of "The War of the Worlds" was garbage
Every Rambo after the first was a trip downhill
    Starsky and Hutch was terrible
The sequel to "The Birds" was the best sleeping pill ever.
Bruce the Shark in "Jaws" died let him rest in peace

There are a few of these that make me long for a sequel to "Plan 9 From Outer Space"!

I though Alien Resurrection was pointless, and the selection of Winona Ryder as an action hero remains one of the worst casting errors in cinematic history.

In general, I studiously avoid any movie with a numeral in its title.

If by 'Alien 2' you are referring to Aliens then you are the wrongest person who has ever been wrong in the history of wrongness.

Werd. Aliens is not only a case study in how to do a sequel properly, it's one of the best movies ever, sequel or otherwise. That said, the franchise should have been left alone after that one.

I couldn't disagree more. Reloaded is the best of the trilogy, IMO...but I also don't consider them to be sequels, as the story told from the first to the last was envisioned from the beginning to be one continuous narrative. Its second and third parts are no more "sequels" than were the second and third films in the Lord of the Rings saga.
