I just was told this June my job will be relocated to Gainesville, Florida. I have been to the area and know it is a BIG college town. But I know nothing about the area. Can anyone give me some insight on the town? I will need a roomate and assume finding a roommate (in the Fall) to help with rent. What is the good areas of town, bad areas? Cost of rents? What is the better gym to work out in (w a pool or sauna)? Nice place to hang and find some new friends? etc. Any insight would be great.

That place is awesome, live where all the students do, all the "communities" have standard amenities which are pools, 24 hour weightrooms, tennis courts, basketball courts, mini soccer fields...place is like heaven for me. Cheap living too.

Gainesville Health and Fitness is by far the best gym in town to workout at. They have a pool, sauna, steam room, good free weights ect..as far as places to hangout, grog in midtown is usually pretty fun, and Sharab downtown is the best club in town in my opinion. The East side of town is kinda gheto but anything near UF or over towards the mall should be fine.

Having checked out your gallery, you shouldn't hav any trouble finding a roommate. Maybe get two - one straight and one gay to suit your orientation. Good luck.
