Mr. Int. Leather Contest

I'm thinking about going to the annual Mr. International Leather contest in Chicago in May of this year.

I'd like to hear from some of you who have been to recent contests. Was it worth it? Did you have a good time? Was it hot?? (and I don't mean the weather!) :wink:

I went to a few of them, the last one was five years ago. My FB was in the competition and placed 9th. I like the parties. I'm going to Black Party in a couple of weeks; that's my favorite.

It's a good time. Stay at the host hotel (Hyatt Regency). The hotel is like a giant bathouse with guys crusing the lobby and hallways. The leather market is in the ballroom of the hotel. Many vendors displaying and demonstrating their stuff. I found the contest to be boring but the bars all have events that are fun. Gay Chicago Magazine has the Grabbys( gay porn awards) that weekend which is also fun. It can be a pricey weekend with hotel, travel, and pocket money.

It's definitely worth experiencing at least once. There's nothing like looking down into the lobby at the Palmer House (the host hotel a few years ago) from the balcony and seeing a sea of men in leather and fetish gear.

Make sure you take either a big memory card or a spare, because there are photo opportunities galore - those leather boys are big ol' hams, so dont be shy about asking them to pose for you.

As bighosenow stated, it can get pretty pricey, especially if you stay at the host hotel.

Definitely stay at the host hotel to really experience it. The years I went it seemed to alternate between the Palmer House Hilton and the Hyatt Regency. The Palmer House lets you get away with more. Hyatt Regency was more strict -- made people take the signs off their doors saying sex party inside come on in etc.

I only did the contest my first year. After that I skipped it. But if you don't go your first year you might think you're missing something good. And you might enjoy it. Included with your ticket to the contest is a shuttle bus pass that let's you ride in a loop from the host hotel to the major bar parties which are fun. Even the back row of the bus has been known to be fun. And Steamworks is DEFINITELY fun while IML is on.

Be sure to allocate enough hours to see the massive leather market in the hotel ballroom. Leather, t-shirts, porn, toys, things you never imagined existed.

I've gonefor several years and its he hottest time of the year here in Chicago. The men are unbelievable and the leather mart is not to be missed.

I have been going for the last 7 years and it is a hot time! Do stay at the host hotel if your looking for sex can find it on all the floors. I don't believe the Hyatt was restrivtive but guys will put signs out sex party in progress... I remember when the host was the Palmer House and we had the contest at the Chicago Theater a couple years ago... the hotest scene was everyone left at the same time and WALKED up from the Hotel to the theater on State Street (its about a 3 block walk) We stopped the Traffic!
