I love good old style 70's Funk. Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago, Tower of Power (New band old style) . Toss in some classic rock. REO Speedwagon, E.L.O, Starship, Journey. I'm in heaven!

For me, it's mostly country, classic rock, bluegrass, blues, some pop....from time to time I also enjoy some oldies and throw in some world stuff (Hawaiian, Celtic, African, etc.)

I'm mainly into Indie artists such as: Florence and the Machine, Bon Iver, The Decemberists, Dent May and his magnificent ukulele, jens Lekman, Dirty Projectors and Fleet Foxes...there are many more

but I am also into more folk based bands such as The Duhks, Avett Brothers and Yonder Mountain String Band

then the theatre whore in me comes out and I always love a good musical

*No rap or R&B at all!!*

This I'll go for, except I do like R&B, especially funk and older stuff.

And I sang a song at karaoke recently that I was told by someone else that it was a good song for me! This'll give you an idea of my vocal type (the pitch of my voice and also the style I'm probably best at singing...)

I'll listen to almost anything.

Someone like me! Yay! Most people I know have entire genres they refuse to listen to. While I have my favorites (indie rock, world music, funk, fun dance pop), I don't write off any entire genre. Probably my least favorite is rap, but I have heard rap songs that I've liked, too.

I also have sung songs ranging from this:

to this:

(My usual style to sing is more like the first one, but the last one was way fun to sing! :biggrin1: And I listen to both kinds of music as well as a lot of other stuff!)

No particular genre for me...

Bon Jovi - A childhood favorite.

Queen - Kicks ass. HARD XD

KISS - Metal music that is tolerably lyrical? Me likes.

Michael Learns To Rock - Great shakes for a bunch of dudes who don't speak English :biggrin1:

Tom Jones - Love the ENERGY, man!

ABBA - Good stuff.

The Carpenters - Lovely voice and wordings.

That was just what I could recall... Might have a couple more hiding here and there on my laptop

First of all, I would suggest the trio Bjork, Tori Amos and PJ Harvey(plus their 'musical mother' Kate Bush).
They're unique in their sounds and way of making music, and listening to their works(Bjork's ones in particular), you can discover how much music you listen to the radio has been influenced by their records.

I love music. It's very important to me. My favourite kinds are rock and metal, but I like such a wide range that I don't limit myself to just those. Anything can sound good to me, and if it sounds good I'll listen.

Some favourite bands: Nine Black Alps, Opeth, Crowded House, Barenaked Ladies, KoRn, The Vines, Linkin Park, Air... and so many more! Couldn't list them all!

For me there's The Beatles in one category...and everything else is subsidiary in a separate category.

The "everything else" can constitute pretty much anything except rap.
I like my classical lite (I'm partial to Bach keyboard pieces).
I like my devotional music more CCM-pop than outright gospel (like Michael W. Smith).
I like my country more newfangled pop-ish (tho Johnny Cash rates).
I like my metal only moderately heavy (Sabbath & Priest are as heavy as I go).

Some of my favourites: Angel, Shirley Bassey, B-52's, Bowie, Capenters, Cher, Cheap Trick, Chicago, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple. Def Leppard, Faces, Fifth Dimension, The Four Tops, Grand Funk RR, Isaac Hayes, Jethro Tull, Elton John, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, Locksley, Bette Midler, The Monkees, Mott The Hoople, Yoko Ono, Pink Floyd, The Pretenders, The Rolling Stones, Diana Ross, Scissor Sisters, Carly Simon, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra, Sly & The Family Stone, Stone Temple Pilots, Barbra Streisand, Three Dog Night, Yes

I've been listening to a lot of Jackson 5ive the past few days (in honour of the "This Is It" video release), and also a lot of Van Halen (in honour of Eddie's 55th birthday).

i listen to a lot of different genres of music. i have a mix of everything on my ipod.

my main tunes are coldplay, oasis, u2, death cab for cutie, kings of leon, silversun pickups, rise against, and saves the day.

ocassionally i change it up with something completely different, like the sounds, shiny toy guns, lily allen, and gorillaz.

i do have a selective weakness for pop music and that's what madonna, kylie minogue, kelly clarkson, taylor swift (my niece got me into her music), and [trainwreck] britney spears are for :biggrin1:

and hip hop... i LOVE hip hop. (what can i say? i'm from LA ) my ipod would be incomplete without the beastie boys, tupac, the fugees, TLC, snoop dogg (when he was still gangsta), NWA, Run DMC, jay-z, and the notorious BIG.

Muse - These guys cannot go wrong for me

Radiohead - What can I say... They did things with music I had never heard before and I loved every second of it.

Beatles - ...Ive never gotten over them.

Metallica - Heavy metal for people who do not like heavy metal.

muse, radiohead, and the beatles are three of my fave bands! :biggrin1: i like metallica as well, but my BF is more into their music.

I was going to say "I'll be the 1st", but dj beat me to it ..

That said, It's pretty much country, except when my girls occasionally want to listen to something different. Anywhere from classic country to the modern country.

I can listen and enjoy almost every other type of music, I just rarely do

Everyone really has some great choices here! I like all music from classic rock (Van Halen, AC/DC), Most top 40 for the past 50 years, classical, baroque, romantic, Jazz (esp. Manhattan Transfer), Beatles. Right now, I am listening to Tzvi Erez and this outstanding performance of Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu. It takes strength and stamina to play this work with such perfection - watch the speed and accuracy of his hands in this performance:http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=TzviErez#p/u/65/56JEGfsiSr8.

I can't believe I've found a space online where my music is mentioned several times! Lol. That makes me so happy.

For me, definitely Björk, PJ Harvey, Nine Inch Nails, Puscifer, Moses Sumney, FKA Twigs, etc. I made a playlist that kind of encompasses the range of music I listen to in a nutshell: Lavender (Spotify Playlist)
