I love Frank Zappa, anyone who knows me can tell you that. He was a brilliant man, and a great musician/composer, and it sucks that he died from prostate cancer in 1993...

And i think the closest thing we will ever have to Frank again would have to be Les Claypool, of Primus.(I'm sure most of you know who Claypool is)

Claypool isnt as good as Frank was, but he's getting there.

I really like Dave Matthews. I think he's the best, most consistent songwriter over last 15 years

Used to see Primus near weekly at the Omni and/or Gilman St... switching off headlining with Faith No More. Wont' give Les ...Zappa-like accolades, but will give him props. Imagine just doing a weekly hang out of Suck On This. If you were there... you know what I'm talking about.

    <----That guy

Of the above, Govan is a cut above, and my current favorite guitarist, bar none. Less cheese, less pretention, less repitition. Just good tuneful songs. The guy is a total master. And damn tasty, unlike every other shredder I've heard. When he rips, he does it with such definition and expression that it's hard to say "too much shred"

    Can't knock Timmons, though.
