Here in the UK if every guy I see wearing CK's was gay the British population would be in serious decline - it isn't.

Do any young guys, gay or straight, these days wear plain ordinary underwear? NO. They wouldn't be seen dead in them.

Is your roomate from the backwoods? Does he shop from those outdated catalogues? The type which the rednecks used to wank over the pics of the 'tightie whities'?

Well... I already see I'm going to be "that guy", but I kind of see most designer underwear as being mostly a... excuse me, but "gay thing". Like, I'm not sure if it's because it generally fits tighter or what, but Armari, Calvin, Ginch Gonch, Papi, Aussie Bum, C-IN2, Diesel, Unico, they all seem to be "gay" underwear to me.

I think the reason why is, generally you don't see your everyday straight guy wearing anything other than Hanes or "normal" underwear. (Unless they're famous.) It's like... you know, it's underwear, who cares? Where as a gay man might think you know... the sterotype is usually they are better dressers or whatever.

Don't get me wrong, I know straight guys who wear Calvins, Polo, and what not, just like I know gay guys who are fine with everyday plaid boxers. I'm just saying, wearing desginer underwear to me is something that's normally something gay people or metrosexuals do. Just MHO.

You are totally on the money. Anyone who doesn't see designer underwear--even basic white briefs or boxer briefs made by a designer--as gay isn't being realistic. You have only to look at the ads: it's a buff guy with ripped abs working hard to show a big bulge in the pouch. It's marketed for sex, and there's just no getting away that it's aimed at men. The message is: Buy these and you'll look like the guy on the box, and the guy on the box is a gay icon.
I love hot underwear, tho' I don't like designer underwear. To me, it's too self-consciously precious: "Look at what a cutie I am in my briefs." I like plain pouch underwear, but it's clear that Hanes and such aren't designed for men with actual balls; the pouch is too repressive.

I think the OP's response, "you should try these, they're comfortable" is the correct one. What else could he say? Now, as to why his roomie should be so interested in his underwear that he commented on it raises other questions...

What's gay about CK X underwear? It's just really comfy; I wear it most days. Keeps everything together in a friendly way, rather than squashing your balls or letting everything hang loose to get trapped by trouser seams - if you're climbing, for example. Give him a pair to try.

In any case, did his mother never tell him to wear nice underwear in case he got hit by a bus?

Well coming from a gay guy, I think there are definitely "gay" underwear.. it's the nice ones that cost above $15. Not to play on stereotypes, but most straight guys can't justify actually spending money on nice undies, and end up wearing those ill fitted Hanes & Fruit of The Loon undies that are 3 for $5 or whatever.

Just my two cents...

I'm straight, married, 40s and wear CK boxer briefs, period (unless commando, that is...). They are comfortable, look good and wear well. And of course I look EXACTLY like the dude on the packaging...lol

here's the thing...if you only wear CK and the rest of your clothes are from Old Navy, then yea, it's kinda suspicious. If all you wear is name brand clothing, then it shouldn't seem unusual to him. the only time I ever wear designer underwear is when I know I'm going to be in a situation where others will see it (like the gym or before sex, or when I'm at the Home Depot pretending to wipe the sweat off my forehead with my shirt so the milf behind me can catch a glimpse of my lower abs and underwear).

Dude, just assume he's ribbing you. No need to get all paranoid just because you're bi-curious. It's your underwear, you like it, nuff said. But, um, could you post a picture so we can all decide?

Gay underwear? Seriously? Do they have "I suck cock" written all over them? If he were my roomie I would have subjected him to a healthy dose of friendly ridicule. :)
LOL!
I would tell him that you won't wear Calvin underwear any more and slide them off in front of him. Go around naked and see if he feels that is less gay! LOL!
OK now I just paired the two quotes together...OP, you should get a pair of "I suck cock" undies and when he comments, slide them off in front of him and ask if that is better! :lmao:

awesome idea. anyway, guys at the gym have every designer underwear on the market. a guy that sees some as "gay" is: 1. closed minded 2. kind if immature. plus, i think he was needing to say something because he wonders if you are gay and he got caught looking at your briefs. the best thing to do is just make the comment that they are comfortable and he should get a pair. then get him drunk and make him dance for you

As an American living in Denmark, I completely agree with you. It's an American thing. Everybody, I know and see here in Scandy-land have nice underwear.

Well....Scandinavia is a heavily feministic/metrosexual place as is a large portion of Europe (excluding East Europe) compared to either America or Canada.

if the CKs are more expensive, than what he can afford, perhaps he has only mentioned that, because of his financial circumstances
i.e.
he can only afford the jockey type??

ps you havnt re-appeared with any sort of update, for 5 days...so no ones any wiser as to where things are at??
called over here ... pissing in the wind'

So let me get this straight: CK underwear is not gay because that would be silly. But 2xist is and so is Aussibum but only if they are not worn in Australia. Do I have that right? Because I don't want to screw up and end up in an awkward situation.

pssblty1: he's totally gay and trying to send a signal(stupid one)
2: He's totally gay and trying to keep it down by insulting the closest person aka:u
3: He's not gay at all but he is retarded so much that he thinks wearing high quality underwear or any fashionable cloth will make you gay. Which is the most pathetic idea ever about men.

yeah its probably 3 but who knows.
